The people policing the board and telling everyone else how to feel are worse than the obvious trolls. Yeah some people are taking it too far, but disappointment is the number one emotion in recruiting. Give ‘em a day or two to cool off. “Some of y’all shouldn’t be following recruiting,” give me a break. This is a fan forum. Alabama misses on a recruit and their fans start punching their sister wives. We just come on VN and punch air. That’s what it’s for.
You’re ruining our narrative with your ridiculous common sense...People over reacting and showing ignorance here. Spyre targets 25-30 million spent per year on athletics, that’s far from an average NIL. That will pretty much trump most major programs. You’re not however going to outspend a billionaire who wants a Olineman.
To put into perspective, A&M NIL spent somewhere less that 30 million last year on its number 1 class of all time which had 8 five star players in it. This isn’t a one year deal either we need to be prepared to compete every year with these deals. Instead of huge investment into a couple of players we need quantity and quality of talent and how we invest in that talent. In other words why piss away a large percentage of your budget on one player?
My bad guys. Someone had to pull the brakes on this crazy train though. You’re ruining our narrative with your ridiculous common sense...

I think he chose them because of their history with O-Lineman. I do think money played a big part of it, but if it were me and the coaches had proven success with my specific position group, I would’ve gone with that route. It’s the same reason why Arch chose Texas with Sark.We play in the sec and are one of the most storied programs with impeccable grounds and facilities. We also have a young spectacular play calling head coach and imo by far the most exciting qb recruit of the class (who also happens to be of somoan descent). To me…mauigoa is the loser in this scenario. Miami? If it had been bama or uga. Or even USC ok. But crazy he choose Miami.
I can tell you really understand life… certain people in life get it… it’s always 2 ways to handle adversity you can cry and pout and fold or you can tough through it with the right mentality… for 1 your favorite college team missing on a recruit is not adversity it’s never the huge deal people like to make it it’s ppl going through real adversity if you ever been through something hard you understand this message board stuff is just fun… for 2 we are still recruiting very well in this class even with our misses people act like a few misses undo all of the ones we hit on… apologies bigl this not directed towards you at all just wanted to piggy back… I hate that whoa is me attitude people get especially when it’s about missing a recruit… the UT program is so much bigger than 1 player… like why have a hobby that makes you so negative all the time some of y’all need to take up knitting or something lol…I would not want some of the posters here as teammates late in the 4th quarter, down by 6 after giving up an interception. Some of yall do not handle adversity well at all.

This recruitment is done. Why yall still here ? Next man up
he's not the problem, its ruiz, he's the problemCristobal is killing it on the recruiting trail, not gonna lie, just stuffing coaches into lockers at this point. He's way more of a problem then I cared to admit, and he is going to make recruiting SoFla an absolute pain in the ass as long as he's there.
Yep. This. Told the NCAA to go F themselves and he’ll buy whoever he wants.he's not the problem, its ruiz, he's the problem
Basilio is completely and entirely FOS. Always has been. Sooner people stop giving this carnival barker their attention the better for them and the program.Interesting take/reporting from Basilio that I hadn't seen before on what decided this recruitment:
It would be easy to get on here today or on my show today and blame Tennessee's NIL turn as the reason Tennessee lost this well thought of prospect. It would also be lazy. Sure Miami has the NIL apparatus in full force and they're spending like drunken sailors, but identity played a part here as well.
I talked with a source at Tennessee last night and they feel like the pull of Miami assistant Joe Salave'a (Associate head coach/Run game coordinator/Defensive line coach) was just too strong to overcome. Salave'a is a Polynesian recruiting prince who was adroitly brought to The U by Mario Cristobal from Oregon. In Eugene, Salvae'a was extremely successful with players that share his nationality. Where I come from this is called identity and intelligent. It's a blow to the Vols for sure but not the end of the world. Perhaps Josh Heupel will consider finding his own Joe Salave'a if in fact he feels so inclined.
The Tony Basilio Show
It's a mix of both. Ruiz is the the money man, but I'd have a hard time believing they'd be doing all of this if Diaz was still there. Miami had absolutely zero going for them before Mario, just a dead fish of a program, now they're trendy and cool again, I have to believe that's mostly because of Cristobal.he's not the problem, its ruiz, he's the problem
