‘23 FL OT Francis Mauigoa (Miami commit)

It's time to shut'er down, boys. Kid wants to be a Cane, good for him.

We needed guys to sign on to our program when we were in the middle of a dumpster fire, too (see Hendon Hooker).

Hope it works out for him. A strong Miami isn't always a bad thing for Tennessee.
Problem is they are a long way from being strong

Problem is they are a long way from being strong
In today's college football, with NIL and the Transfer Portal, I'm not sure there's such thing as "a long way from being strong". It may turn out to be a while but, as Tennessee fans can attest to this as well as anyone, fortunes can change very quickly. It was 18 months ago that national writers were saying Tennessee was 5 years away from making a bowl again.

Never lost to MTSU at home

There are very troubling signs at Miami that point to Mario not being the guy.

They got manhandled by MTSU. And by Duke. Currently, his players aren’t bought in.

I'm certainly not making an argument that Miami is well on its way to glory. They're currently a train wreck. Just simply pointing out that, in today's world, to say that Francis will never be a part of a successful team at Miami is naive. In the past few years, we've seen championship-level teams fall apart the next year and teams go from sub .500 to title contenders seemingly overnight. Things ebb and flow at a much more rapid pace than ever before.

I think that Miami may be all in with Mario. He is one of "their guys" and lord knows Tennessee is a perfect example of how hard it is to get rid of one of "your guys". I think he will get a pretty long leash, I would say that if this kid ends up going there, Mario will be his head coach his entire time there. Now, it may not be a pretty four years, but I think his ties to the area will get him some extra time. If randy shannon was able to steal four years from them, Mario will get at least five

The big contract they gave him is the bigger issue. They've hitched their wagon to him for the near future.

Cristobal was always a shaky hire. He never really impressed at Oregon
He won 73% of his games at Oregon, 72% of his conference games, and took his team to the conference championship three times in four years, including two conference championships and a top 5 finish.
If that is not "impressive", your expectations are waaaayyyyyyy out of line.
