'19 FL QB Brian Maurer (Tennessee signee)

I'm not impressed with our QB recruiting at the moment

If MaxPreps and my ciphering are correct, career stats:

comp 617
att 1024
tot yds 7638
% .602
avg comp 12.38
avg game 263.4
td's 64
int's 35

Didn't get final rushing, but thru 9 this year was respectable.
peyton completion % was 59% in HS. Not real solid.

Why does it matter where he’s at on a list that proves to be wrong on players more than it’s right. People’s infatuation with recruiting rankings is absurd. CJP thinks the kid is legit so that’s all we should care about!
Hey, i like Mauer and I’m pumped about him coming to UT. After him balling out all year i would have thought they’d bumped him up, so it’s more like “i can’t figure out why the experts don’t see how good he is”. But thanks for immediately trying to talk sh#t to someone who merely asked a question.

That’s outside the point. The guy I responded too just wants maurers rating to go up so our team rating will go up recruiting wise. Of course bama is on top, the only take 4 and 5 stars basically and they have the best 12 month program in the nation hands down.

in the nation,* hands down.

Don’t get worked up brother, it not that serious. He is a good prospect, got a cannon for an arm. He reminds me of drew lock in some ways. He will probably get bumped up to a 4 star before it’s all said and done.

This is by far the best he's looked on film. Still some footwork/slow release problems. Also still concerned with the level of competition, and the fact that his team struggled mightily against that level of competition. But overall, I think he's very athletic, strong arm, accurate, and has good instincts/intangibles. He'll need plenty of time for development, but with good coaching he could be a real player for us down the road.

I dont think the offense struggled mightily. I'm not sure but it seemed like most games were like 51-49

Wow. Impressive film. He made some big time throws with perfect placement on the back shoulder ones. All of that with a horrid offensive line. He'll fit in here just fine

Let me preface this by saying that I am not a QB, nor do I play one on TV but it looks to me like he holds the ball low as he is in the pocket? At least it appears he can run when the line breaks down. Sorry, couldn't resist. Other than that, based on what he he was able to accomplish at the Elite 11, if i remember correctly, I'm glad he chose the VOLS!

I will say this, I'm not a QB expert but it seemed to me as far as arm strength goes(because people kept calling him a noodle arm)- when he set his feet and had time he had some zip, I mean he's not aaron rodgers or pat mahomes but he's not weak armed, on a lot of his throws that were under-thrown he was running and throwing across his body, which based on his porous OLine he had to do far too often, also noticed that when he had time he was quick to go through his progressions which is going to help his college game, he's also got sneaky athleticism, all in all if he can clean up his foot work and hold the ball higher to shorten his release time he should be a pretty good one in the future

Right. I mean who the he!! wants an elite 11 QB that can also move around in the pocket and out, while keeping his eyes down field and makes things happen with his legs ?
