Watched some of Maurer's footage yesterday. I'm no expert at judging high school QBs, but he looks pretty dang good.

The stats from his Senior year are also very impressive. One of the most improved from his class stats-wise from Junior to Senior year. Curious to see if he gets a 4th star, but the ratings services often judge their impressions more off of Junior years than Senior years, unfortunately.

Goff and Mahomes were 0-20 against top 25 opponents while in college. Man they’re terrible QB’s aren’t they?

His record as starting QB happens to come at a time when the Vols had an intern posing as a head coach, the worst offensive line in the SEC both last season and this season, inadequate development across the roster the last three years, and while operating with his third OC in three years at UT. Not to mention he's played against the SEC when it's arguably the deepest it's ever been.

A QB's win/loss record is one of the most overrated statistics ever. It's a team effort, not one guy.

I definitely think JG is our guy the next 2 yrs barring something unexpected coming up. I just hope Shrout and Maurer have some moxy about themselves to push JG even further. If this happens then our QB situation will be well on the up and up. That should attract even better prospects in the future.
