I see the kneejerk overreaction crowd is already out in full force.

No doubt that Florida looked pedestrian in this game. But, it’s the first game of the season and Utah has a good football team.

I’d tap the brakes for now. Florida might very well suck this season, but I think we need a few more data points.

Gentle fan update:

First of all... remember that we have our own Nimrod, and he'll probably catch some passes tomorrow.

Language is funny. Ask 100 people if "nimrod" is an insult, and 99 will say yes. All because in a 1940 Bugs Bunny cartoon, Elmer Fudd is called a nimrod.

But it was sarcasm. Nimrod was a powerful king mentioned in Genesis: "A mighty hunter before the Lord." The joke was that, as a hunter, Elmer Fudd is no Nimrod.

they looked bad and undisciplined, but I also know the curse we have when we play then down there...

plenty of times we should have beaten them and we haven't so I won't trash talk them

There is no curse. Florida beat Tennessee because they were better. That isn’t the case this year.

The Florida and Bama poster’s didn’t bother me that much.. but the Georgia ones are too argumentative and a PITA.. they will return, I’m sure

So…Jaws? I saw him post last night. He seems like a genuinely nice guy, but he was a lot more useful when he was talking about what we needed to get to the level of whichever Gator HC he was hawking at the time. 😉

Watched the game last night and looked back over the stats line this morning.
If any of us are looking past Florida or expecting a cake walk, you need to wake up and FAST.

Take away the first play from Utah (70yd touchdown on a blow crossing route coverage) and it's a 6 point game against a Top 15 team.
As far as stats that stick out, Mertz had 333 yards in the air but where Utah attacked was the ground game...Florida ended the night with only 13 yds !!!
Give the lizards back a few of those false start and delay of game penalties and this game would have been much, much closer in the 4th qtr.

All of that said, right now Florida is undisciplined, young on defense, and has struggles on the O Line.
They should be able to fix the discipline / penalty issues before our visit and not sure about the running game though...they have a crazy talented RB, just need to get him involved and running lanes open.

DO I think UT goes into the swamp and breaks the streak? YES we do.
Is it a boat race blowout like some on here are saying?....NO WAY

Aren’t we still paying Dan Mullen for the buyout? Maybe we could employee him. Can’t stand his arrogance but at least he knew how to draw up an offensive gameplan. How about Spurrier? He may still have some offensive genius left in him. Certainly can’t be worse than screen left, handoff, screen right. What a depressing night for Gator football.

We really hired a slightly cooler Butch Jones
