Florida sucks and I love it!

As much as I love to see Florida struggle, you know they won’t stand for this for too long. I’m afraid they’ll probably lure Kingsbury when Sunbelt Billy is fired at the end of the year.

I'd just like to say the new clock sucks. Doesn't even stop if you go out of bounds. Not that I want it to help Florida but just in general.

I love it. It's how it should have been for years, imo.

I seem to remember people on here saying we were going to destroy Florida last year and it ended up being a 38-33 score with a huge scare at the end of the game.

I’m definitely picking us by 14+ points in that game but I’ll wait to say anything bad about Florida until after our game with them.

Florida doesn't have AR15 to account for more than half of their offense this year. Also, we clearly let our foot off the gas pedal at the end. If I recall correctly, it was a 17 point game with 5 min left.

Gentle fan update:

First of all... remember that we have our own Nimrod, and he'll probably catch some passes tomorrow.

Language is funny. Ask 100 people if "nimrod" is an insult, and 99 will say yes. All because in a 1940 Bugs Bunny cartoon, Elmer Fudd is called a nimrod.

But it was sarcasm. Nimrod was a powerful king mentioned in Genesis: "A mighty hunter before the Lord." The joke was that, as a hunter, Elmer Fudd is no Nimrod.
When I was a kid in the early 70's, we spent a month going "out west" in a pop up camper with my grandmother. The camper was a Nimrod. Never knew the origins of that. Thanks. Me on the left, brothers and "mama" on the right. We went to Wally World (Disney Anaheim). Lived that first Vacation movie (no dog though). By the way, the TAG has UT on it. In Alabama, that is "Utility Trailer", had nothing to do with the VOLS.

I wouldnt be caught dead making this post before UTs game. I hope you don't bring bad karma on us tomorrow.

I don't particularly care for Utah. I actually thought UF's talent would overwhelm them and especially with a back up QB. UF is poorly coached. It isn't just the obvious things like penalties but generally they don't look sharp. They play like they've never practiced together.

They also look like some of their guys were overrated by the recruiting sites.

What we say or feel really doesn't matter... except maybe as we somewhat reflect the attitude within the program.

Heupel has talked about teams that "hope" to win and those that "expect" to win. I hope that those who are encouraged by UF's poor play and expect to win are more reflective of the team's EXPECTATION to win against the Gators than you. Not trying to knock you particularly. I get why you might be waiting for something bad to happen and especially in the recent history of this series. However Heupel has built a different culture at UT. UF is just another test now and not the dreaded monster under the bed.

Again, what you or I think really has no bearing on how the two teams will play. If the fans are overconfident then it won't mean a thing unless the players are. However the confidence to "expect" to win... is what's been missing the whole time you've developed this kind of "wait for the other shoe to drop" attitude.

Well, you haven't had the "joy" of seeing Gator 3rd string qb's having Heisman-like days against us. This Gotor team - even after today - will absolutely believe they will beat us in Gainesville. Their defense played absolutely well enough to win tonite and Billy Napier will call a much more wide open offensive game plan at home against Vols. Their offense was always gonna take a few games to gear up ......you could see their timing was way off tonite. Trust me, they will play us hard and will have a solid belief they can beat us. And until we prove we can, we don't do Gainesville well, almost ever. So that is why my friend.

Their defense did not play well last night. Utah was rolling out back-ups and still put up 24 points. And they left points on the field too. Could have easily put up 30 had they hit that trick play down the sideline to a wide open WR and made that last FG more manageable with better play calling at the end

UF defense looked slow all night aside from Shemar James. That kid looks like a baller. DL failed to get much push all night.

Offensively, they never really seemed to get into a rhythm until the 4th, when Utah was undoubtedly playing more zone to keep the ball in front of them and force UF to eat clock. But Pearsall is legit a problem and that super fast freshman looked impressive. Play calling is a major problem for them though.

I agree with you here. If I am Florida fan, I am more upset that the timing looked SO OFF tonite even tho first game. They have known Mertz would start since Spring and the timing is still poor...pump fakes before his receivers even make their break, fear to even call downfield passes, and too many bad penalties. If I am a gator, I am also pissed at what appeared to be really questionable play-calling on BN's part tonite. He called a brilliant game in Knoxville against us last year, yet tonite, he was ultra conservative and almost in a "keep it respectable" mode. Also his choice to go for 2 pt. conversion when still down two td's is shaky. Most wait until down one score or down 1 before PAT to choose the 2 pt option. His coaching just seemed distracted tonite. That will not sit well down in mobilehome-land.

They had 21 points through 55 minutes last year. They scored more at the end after we let up. I wouldn't call that a brilliant game.

I didn't have high hopes for Florida but in that lose, they actually looked better than I expected. Their QB play was really the only bright spot. Defense for Florida played well but Utah had their backups in so that may explain it and Utah was very conservative in second half.

Florida running game is atrocious though. I was expecting Florida to be bad but they are a threat with that QB if they go insane passing and go for it on every 4th down like they did last year against Tennessee.

Not with a top 5 recruiting class and just in his 2nd year; he isn't gone.

Will be hard to keep they recruiting class together if they go 6-6 or worse. Especially with FSU down there road looking like title contenders and Miami throwing NIL deals around like they are candy.

Their OL is supposed to be their strength this year, but they looked like hot garbage against a depleted Utah DL. They allowed 5 sacks and only created 13 yards of rushing. Bodes well for a couple of weeks from now.

Maybe it's just me, but I prefer Florida to be on top of their game when we beat them. Beating a program when they're down doesn't have the same feels to it, IMO. Yes, Fulmer "owned" Bama, but we all know they weren't in their prime during those years.

Florida looked particularly slow across the board on defense.

And the announcers mentioned several times that the Utes were missing 7 or 8 guys that were expected to start. They lost one of their best DBs within the first few minutes to a head injury. The recently released 247 roster talent composite shows UF at 15 and Utah at 33. Yet Utah was able to not only beat UF but beat them with back ups. Some of it may be talent but I think the picture of the HC is beginning to clear up.

UF fans still seem to be defending him. Even though the "mess" he inherited was nothing like the one Heupel inherited... they're convinced he's the right guy. And he... was convinced that Mertz was the best QB available in the portal.

In my most pleasant dreams... all of Gator nation continues to believe he's the answer. IMHO, he's Muschamp 2.0.

...AND the ball ... AND a 1st dn ... AND on their side of the field ... watching that last 5 minutes and especially that last sequence gave me serious Butch Jones redux. It was the only 3 plays in CJH tenure, where it felt list the previous 15 years all over again.

Muschamp teams at least had an identity. UF always had a great defense under Muschamp.

I don't know what this UF is supposed to be good at. I guess it's offense, but they looked pretty neutered last night.

CJH seemed to learn a lot from that game. I didn't see us play that way the rest of the season with a lead.
