He may....I don't know
But usually most go where the most money is, and where they think they could have the most success. In the Pac he would have to worry about USC, Utah, and the Buffs, in the East.....Ga and Fla (and Fla has not had an O in a long time)......I also think the money would be here rather than UCLA

but again I don't know.....(we still have a coach, and we don't know if they would even try for Chip here)

I would take him in a second!!! NCAA concerns and all. He is a great college coach, he recruits well, and generates excitement which again brings recruits. Tennessee would make his salary back in merchandising, ticket sales, and bowl revenues.
He is the best on the board right now. And if we puzzy foot around too much he and similar quality coaches will be swept up by the vacancies ( ND, UCLA,likely FL, etc).
Sign the dude before the competition stiffens and the bidding war begins!

Florida isn't firing Mac. $20M for a guy that is winning football games. Not gonna happen, can't validate that.

It was the Willie Lyles scandal. He was funneling players to Oregon. Chip Kelly was given a show cause penalty. There is no way Tennessee would hire him as a result and I don't think Florida would either.

Everyone knows what Kelly would do. He's been outed. I wish Florida would hire him. Fact is macelwaine will be at Florida for years to come after this season.

No, we aren't. Both Pearl and Tyndall were fired before their show cause penalties and in light of the poor job which was done vetting Tyndall, I feel confident in saying that we will not consider anyone with this in their history regardless of how good a coach they are.

Agreed. The Boosters would never let Chip Kelly be hired here. If they did, the leash would be so tight that he would never agree to it.

Chip Kelly is the next Charley Weiss.
He isn't a string recruiter. He also left Oregon with the NCAA nipping at his heals.

He was horrid in the NFL.

Ed Orgeron is probably the strongest recruiter/head coach currently on the scene and I would not want him. You have to have recruiting and coaching. We probably won't get both in one guy. I'd rather have a great football mind as head coach and let him hire some ace recruiters than to trust a good recruiter to hire top coordinators to implement a system that the head coach doesn't fully understand.

Who cares how he did in the NFL?
Nick Saban was horrid in the NFL
Pete Carroll was horrid in the NFL before he got the SC job
Steve Spurrier was horrid in the NFL

Would you have turned any of them down? Secondly, Charlie Weis, really? Weis had never been a HC in his life. Kelly has a rather good resume. Finally, Kelly recruited three consecutive top 15 classes to Oregon. The notion that he isn't a good recruiter is nonsense.

They were promoted, not hired as head coaches.

Where are you all getting the idea that Chip Kelly is a poor recruiter? That couldn't be further from the truth. Just stop.
