The most surreal moment was when a Florida fan was defending Napier and the culture and saying that Florida fans should want their players to be life champions too. He said Napier is producing good men. Lol
The team I watched last night would struggle to find 3 wins with that schedule. They're not going to fire Napier unless with cause. His buyout is tremendous.
But if you think this year is bad, look at next year.

That is as bad as it can be without adding Bama.
UF just handled his contract in one of the worst ways possible. Look what we did with Heupel as a good example of how this should work. He initially signed a 6 year $4 million/year deal worth $24 million overall. He came in as one of the lowest paid SEC head coaches but knew that would change if he won. After a 7 win year one he got raised to $5 million, then after an 11 win year two he got raised to $9 million. Compare that to Napier who signed a 7 year $7.4 million/year deal worth $52 million overall. A deal like that only makes sense when you’re getting a coach with a history of winning at the P5 level. UF tripled his salary before he even coached a P5 game!amazing. college football coach price inflation is really producing some absurd outcomes.
If Heupel goes into the swamp and gets a convincing win in a game that was never in doubt, he will solidify his standing as our best coach since the General IMHO. Not even Fulmer was able to pull that off. This is the undiscovered country for modern Vol fans. It is the longest lasting persistent monkey on our backs. Time to write a new era in Vols footballGame is still in Florida, so you never know. I have confidence in our team, but for some reason that damn place always seems to bring out the worst in us. Hopefully we will get up a few scores early and they will have to play from behind.
Mullen was a good coach and they fired him after one bad year. In 2020 they were a thrown shoe away from making the playoffs. In 2021 they only won 6 games but 4 losses were by 1 score, including to Bama. The administration over reacted and fired Mullen.Listening to them brings back bad memories. I used the same excuses, said some of the same things in the past. I am so happy with our current AD and coach!
I don't know what the future holds for Florida, but I don't believe that Stricklin or Napier are the answer. Is there something weird going on at Florida? How bad does the administration stink at UF? They hired Stricklin from Mississippi State and then Strickland hires Mullen. Stricklin and Mullen had Mississippi State humming, but Mullen lasted only a few years and Stricklin is probably on his way out the door if things do get better soon.
I thought from the beginning, having been around some of Napier’s coaches at UL (they were my neighbors)… he is a fantastic and high character guy.. but I think it is a cultural clash with U of F.. these are not attributes that one naturally associates with that program or university.. not being mean, just being for real.. it will start to get on their nerves if it hasn’t already
Heupel needs to win a natty to match Fulmer and with the expanded playoffs and NIL I think he might. The UF of Fulmer’s day is more like Bama or UGA today. They were always in contention for the national championship and if there was a playoff they likely would have won another 1 or 2.If Heupel goes into the swamp and gets a convincing win in a game that was never in doubt, he will solidify his standing as our best coach since the General IMHO. If THAT team wins 5 games with their schedule, I will be VERY impressed. They would have to really tank to fire Sun Belt Billy. I think they will be very mediocre this year, but still manage to win 5-6 games and they'll chalk it up as a "rebuilding year." But they'll find it hard to maintain that top 5 class with a losing record and a coach on the hot seat.
They legitimately could go 2-10 if they don't improve significantly between now and then. They're not going to fire Napier unless with cause. His buyout is tremendous.

You can't take away a man's W / L record but Mullen is a WEIRD dude. I believe that's why you don't see him coaching anywhere right now. He brings a very strange culture to the program. We didn't hear much about it a MS ST but we all saw lots of weird stuff while he was at UF. He even seems very weird when I watch his analysis on TV.Mullen was a good coach and they fired him after one bad year. In 2020 they were a thrown shoe away from making the playoffs. Should have been picked. The one back pedaling totally misjudged it. The game wasn’t about how much Utah dominated but more of how UF totally screwed themselves with dumb penalties and bad red zone opportunities—that’s on Baby Billy.Their o-line gave up 5 sacks, it is trash. Mertz doesn't have the escapabilty that A.R. had The opening 70-yard bomb had me salivating with what White and Thornton will be able to do.
