Folks lets face it, Hart just sealed our 15 year irrelevance

We need to run every freakin' Alabama Crimson Turd piece of s--t out of town on a rail, starting with this idiot Hart.

Hart has cost us an opportunity to make a big splash hire that can recruit on equal footing with the top of the conference. We need to start an active protest on campus to run his sorry Bammer ass out of town TODAY !!!

What is Gruden's NCAA coaching record to indicate he is a "Saban type hire"?

Don't get me wrong, I think Gruden would be great, however there is a certain amount of uncertainty.

No guys... the OP has a point. Hyams is never wrong and would NEVER put out false information recklessly. Plus EVERYONE knows that Gruden alone is a good enough coach and recruiter to take the UT from where it is to relevance within 15 years. Just incredible wisdom and insight being displayed in that OP.

I see what you did there...lol

Huh.. that's funny. I just checked outside and the sky is in fact not falling. I think we're still ok.

Yeah where does anyone get he would be a "SABAN" like hire, look man, there is no Spuririer, Saban, or Meyer out there that was successful and currently does not have a job, Well theres Petrino but Hart wont go that way, Im cool with that either way TN will be better off than it has in years

you people don't realize that football funds this university without it, nothing goes on at ut other than the guys that look at dead bodies across the river cause they love it. now we must settle for a none tennessee ties head coach again. i am still a vol fan always will be but losing out on a saban like hire doesn't make me very hopeful we can return to being a national power again.

He is NOT the only great option out there. Even the great options could turn out to be not so great in reality. He has unique star appeal that would garner attention. It appears that UT may have pursued him knowing that. But there is a limit that you can go even for a "saban like hire". The money being discussed is definitely much more than "saban like" and Saban is the best paid coach in CFB.

Negotiations are two way interactions.

FWIW, if there was ever two way interest... I for one am not ready to say it is dead based on a widespread regurgitation of "inside" info coming from Hyams.

So fan overreaction, discomfort with not knowing what's going on, and overall impatience is evidence that the process has been handled badly? Another gem of wisdom....

exactly my question, thing is no one will ever answer. they'll just keep making out like UT would go undefeated for the next 20 years if gruden came.

Do any of these other coaches who would just all of a sudden buy in to our traditions make you want to come and play here for national titles? i would come play for tennessee any day, but kids these days won't without a big name that can reenergize this program.

What made people think that he was going to come here anyway? I would love it but I'm not jumping off a bridge if he doesn't.

The Football team is going to be fine. Damn, we survived this long without Gruden, I think will survive without him. I use to work with a guy, he said if he left the place, our company would be in a serious logjam, he was convinced of this. The thing I reminded him of....This company was doing just fine for the 75 years before you got here, I think they could survive logjam. Long story short, they did away with that dept, and his job....None the less, that was 15 years ago, company still running strong. I knew Jon Gruden was Catholic, that dont make him Jesus!!

Stick a fork in it we are done for a long long time as a program. We may have to shut down the university over this one. I don't really think we have any chance of getting a coach who is worth 50 cents now. At least not one that can recruit to help us to get us back. This is going to be worse than when kiffin left. Go Vols!!! All we can hope for is 6 wins a season now for a long time.

This has to be sarcasm. If not, ive lost more faith in our fan base than our program.

Why do these trolls post things when they don't know what they are talking about? How do you know Hart ruined anything? Maybe Gruden didn't want to be here. Gossip, gossip, gossip. You (govols105) sound like you do not have much to do with your life. I want a coach that, first and foremost, wants to be a Tennessee Vol. Second, I want a coach that has the drive and ability to bring us back to where we were in the late 90s and early 2000s. Good grief, give Hart a chance! govols105 quit gossiping and simply shut up!

Gruden isn't the end all-be all coach. There are numerous guys that should do fine here. Get a life.

100-85 head coaching record. Fired from previous job. Never a charismatic coach. Never recruited in the SEC. Never recruited anywhere. Questionable commitment to college ranks if hired. 5-year hiatus from coaching of any kind.

But when you add fun to listen to on ESPN and a Super Bowl versus former team the year after he left because the former team was too stupid to change the offensive playbook, people **** themselves and demand Jon Gruden be the next coach.

Charlie Strong was before and is without a doubt now the best candidate for Tennessee.

No one has a "big name" before they do something to earn it. The few "big names" out there aren't going to leave a great gig unless you dramatically outbid their current employers... which all happen to be big name Football schools with as many resources as UT.

Coaches will sell traditions regardless. Kiffin apparently had contempt for UT traditions and still used it as a selling tool.
