Gruden never wanted to come here. He is too scared to coach in the college game because of all the rules and regulations. He is going to coach in the NFL next year and that is how it was from the beginning. To all the people who think that Gruden was the only coach who could turn UT around....you might as well put that cold steel to the side of your head and pull the trigger because it turns out your brain was pretty useless in the first place.

he did, but he couldn't coach, so you know it's like anything else in life, when you screw something up that's very important to alot of people then your sealing your own fate to be a failure.

Would you prefer the Hamilton way...make every interview public just so the whole sports world knows everybody that turned us down for one reason or another?

Just because Hart is keeping a tight lip until there is something to report does not mean he is making a mistake! Have any of you people ever actually made a big hire at a business? You don't tell everyone who you are interviewing, you take your time and get the RIGHT guy.

Agree with that post. Not sure it is Charlie Strong? But I think he will be interviewed. Would much rather have Strong than Golden, but I hope all possabilities are left open and no page are left unturned.

Dooley was not the one that "screwed" it up. He could not coach well enough to fix it... but it was WAY screwed up when he arrived. He improved it some but not enough. He failed... but that does not make him a "failure" any more than some of your posts make you a "failure" even though they qualify as "fails".

If he does that he will be railroaded out of town, trust me on that. Jones is a lightweight who even let the DA Dooley beat him. Now that Gruden is supposedly gone and who's name would have recruited just by being who he is my next pick is Charlie Strong and I am lukewarm on him.

When the presidential election ended, I kept wondering where I would turn to get my daily dose of overly dramatic, opinionated, feeble-minded blabbering from tin-foil-hat-wearing, mother's-basement-dwelling, no-life losers. Watching our fan base implode on the internet is 1,000 times more entertaining than politics.

i didnt say he should say he is scared on tv he should have just announced i have no desire to coach at tennessee at all ever. and left it at that and it would have killed some of this circus that has been going on for football team regarding the hire of our next coach.

Hart is what he has always been-- a control freak who's going to do what HE wants. If Dooley had beaten Vandy by even one point, he would still be our coach. When Hart was forced to fire Dooley, he starting working his own shortlist-- Fisher, Golden and Smart. Hart's ego could never have co-existed with Gruden's ego, which is why Hart never pursued Gruden. Fans are going to be disappointed-- and Hart doesn't care. He's going to bring in one of his buddies, pay him more than he's worth, and that's that.

Let's not forget Gruden did get fired from lowly Tampa Bay in his last coaching gig, yeah he's a big name because of his MNF stuff, but who knows what he could have done on this level, college and pro are 2 different games.
