Can't risk getting rid of him and creating doubt for a big possible incoming class of OL.I agree that Friend had it tough, but if anyone should be a scapegoat, it's him. His unit was by far our worse. I understand he had little to work with, but it is what it is. The biggest drawback of our offense was line play. I'm not sure you can argue around that.
The same high level reasons the last 2 got fired. What makes you think Pruitt will get fired?

Dude burned a timeout today because he couldn't do the arithmetic fast enough in his head to find out he should go for two. It took us half a season to figure out what a legal punt formation is.
He ripped into our lame duck OCs ass because he tried to run a two minute drill with a lead. Which we ended up scoring 7 on. That should tell you everything. Our rookie OC does the obvious thing and gets yelled at by our clueless head coach.
Whatever. Everyone is right. Our talent pales in comparison to the juggernaught of 2 star instate recruits that is Vandy. The Kentucky and Auburn games were just the result of Pruitts coaching prowess, and not just his inability to stifle any chance we had to win with like all the other weeks.
Oh absolutely. But you can scheme it so simple a 4 yr old can do it but if you don't have the talent then there's nothing to be done. What OL do you think would have any shot at being a starter for a currently ranked top 5 team?? My vote is 0, no one.do you honestly think the OC has no say in blocking scheme?
We didn't play a top 5 team, we played Vandy.Oh absolutely. But you can scheme it so simple a 4 yr old can do it but if you don't have the talent then there's nothing to be done. What OL do you think would have any shot at being a starter for a currently ranked top 5 team?? My vote is 0, no one.
What is the issue there? Do you want someone who is so mediocre that nobody wants them ? We can't hire based upon a life time commitment to UT.
You're also forgetting that it is your job to hold them to the same standards as everyone else and to promote accountability. Do everything you can to make them successful, but than once you have, you hold them accountableI’ve tried to explain it but let me try a different way. Let’s assume we’re not talking about Tennessee athletics where you may feel like we’re just playing with Monopoly money.
When I have to let someone go at work, and I am their manager, it reflects poorly on me.
I hired that person meaning I did the vetting on the front end and made sure we were on the same page about goals, expectations, experience, etc.
I am ultimately responsible for developing them and getting the most out of them. And ensuring they are contributing to the goals of the organization.
Now sometimes I still have to let someone go, but the question that will ultimately be asked of me is how did you let that happen? It was my job to hire and develop a good fit.
It’s just the real world, Fox, and it’s not different for JP.
