He is in a holding pattern for an SEC job until Saban tells the SEC offices he is ready to hire him.

He wanted Freeze instead of Helton but the SEC said no. That's the story I've heard. If Freeze is the guy he wants then I explain to the SEC that we either get to hire Freeze or Pruitt will let all the skeletons out of Bama's closet. I would let the skeleton out to the FBI too and turn it into a basketball scandel.

At this point hiring anyone outside of the SEC is a bad idea, especially for us. It's a different ball game around here than out west, or up north for that matter.

Agreed, it was the worst hire by a wide margin of all the assistants. Strange and odd considering everyone else had SEC histories. Hoped it would work out but it never did. Why? Well never know exactly, a combination of many many factors I'm sure. The real question, if this is true, is who next. What SEC coach is on the list. Is Friend gonna be moved up, or a new guy brought in.

if we are successful enough for him to be a big name for a HC job, its a small price to pay. When other teams want your coordinators for HC job's its a good thing

The good thing about todays game is this is the last time this year that JG will be blitzed from his left by an unseen defensive player ready to take his head off. Especially in the first quarter of play. More than that it is the last time this year that we act like a blind side blitz was just invented. Coach P knows what a blitz is. You could not tell it this year by how many time JG got picked up off the turf. I wonder if the OC has a clue? IMO JG looked like he was playing with a "DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS" look. Shell Shock. Get cloths lined enough and that s*** will happen. I've been there.

yeah he got hit alot and had a bad Oline, but not all the sacks and hits were on the oline only. JG cant read a blitz or has any pocket presence what so ever.

Just heard Herbstreit say that USC has shown glimpses this year of being a good team and then at times they look bad. Just made me think of UT. Haven’t watched USC at all this year. With the Helton connections, are there similarities in the USC offense and ours? Is the style the Helton’s run somewhat sporadic and inconsistent as a whole? Just a thought. Curious to see what y’all think. I for one am onboard with our coaches. But tonight’s performance made me question that some.

Couldn't possibly have anything to do with the fact that he was left with little talent or depth on O-line with virtually every O-lineman on the team being undersized and underdeveloped; and then adding onto that by having our 2 best OLs have season-injury injuries / conditions.

I agree that Friend had it tough, but if anyone should be a scapegoat, it's him. His unit was by far our worse. I understand he had little to work with, but it is what it is. The biggest drawback of our offense was line play. I'm not sure you can argue around that.
