People, please. Tennessee is not getting into the playoff unless they buy a ticket. Even with mich pounding osu today, we don't have a shot. TCU is winning at the moment so that puts ugh, mich, TCU and probably USC ( if they beat Notre Dame, which they should) as the top 4 with osu probably at 5. As long as TCU does not get blown out in the big 12 championship game they are likely in. If TCU loses close in the championship game, osu might sneak into the 4 spot.

We’re just having fun man, a lot of us know we ain’t making the playoffs but it’s fun watching the games. I can honestly say this the first time in a long time where I’ve paid attention to other games that didn’t involve the Vols.

In other words

At this point I just hope Bama doesn't weasel in

Don't think you have to worry about that. With Oregon on their way to winning vs OSU. They'd need USC to lose tonight to go to 10-2 and out of the Top 8 and then beat Oregon next week in PAC12 title game. That way you'd have 11-2 USC and 10-3 Oregon with both eliminated from playoff contention with recent losses.

From there, a LSU loss to Georgia drops them out of the Top 5 and a TCU loss drops them out of the Top 10 with loss to Texas or K State.

From there you'd have 13-0 Georgia and 13-0 Michigan (Assuming they win in Indy) as playoff locks with two spots up for grabs between the following:

11-1 Ohio State
10-2 Bama
10-2 Tennessee
11-2 Clemson
11-2 USC
12-1 TCU

This would be the ultimate chaos scenario for the committee because the 3 conference champs would have losses in 1 of the 2 final weeks with Ohio State ending season on a loss and Bama / Tennessee ending on a win.

All of this is null and void with USC and Oregon winning tonight as both winning would result in a 2 loss conference champ at minimum.

I feel like they would pick Bama over us just because of South Carolina. And I would be infuriated.

I think it would be more so due to Hooker being out for us. We are not the same team on paper. I say that because we have yet to play a full game with Milton which we will see in about an hour.

I don't think it would matter how we played just because it's Vandy. Hope I'm wrong though.

Your playoff scenario predictions are suspect given previous declarations, in this death spiral are we still fighting for the 3 seed not the 4 seed as you espouted ad nauseum

I was pretty clear with my stance. 11-1 Tennessee would be the 3 seed over a 13-0 TCU as to prevent the CFP from putting 1 vs 4 All SEC Semifinal like they've done plenty of times in the past. Since we lost to South Carolina, 11-1 is no longer a possible outcome to the regular season...

On a side note, TCU is finally playing a complete game and winning big. Only took a 4-7 team for them to do so.

Why does that matter?

We will be the number two SEC team out of playoff regardless of what LSU and Bama do.

LSU wins, they are in the playoff. They lose, they drop below us with a 3rd loss.

We will go Orange Bowl as long as we finish 10-2 today.

LSU with a loss in Atlanta won’t stay ranked ahead of us.
Thats why Im hoping for LSU to lose.

Here is what Tennessee would need:

2 vs 3- Ohio State vs Michigan needs to be a margin like Tennessee vs Georgia / MICHIGAN DELIVERS 22 POINT BEATDOWN

4 - TCU losing to a 4-7 Iowa State would send them in a free fall in the rankings. TCU has been on a high risk, low reward run these last few weeks where a win doesn't do much for them, but a loss essentially ends their playoff hopes

5 - LSU loss vs UGA. Sure they can lose to A&M today, but the loss vs UGA is more likely.

6 - USC loss vs ND or PAC12 title game

7 - Bama not really important.

8 - Clemson loss vs one of the Carolina's... Either team would drop them a bit in rankings with UNC's loss last night / FIRST DOMINO TO FALL

9 - Oregon loss vs Oregon State / DOWN GOES DUCKY TO THE BEAVE

10 - Tennessee goes nuclear with Joe Joe Milton throwing 7 sixty yard TD's to Squirrel and Merrill today

Updated with the Ducky Destruction in the 2nd half

Won't jump Alabama, TCU, or OSU. We can get to 6, but not any higher.

So lets say we move up to 8 with Oregon and Clemson losses.....

LSU will drop below us with a loss tonight simply because of how poor A&M is.

USC would drop below us with a loss to Notre Dame.

If both LSU and USC lose to cap off the night, I would expect OSU, Bama, Tennessee to be ranked 4,5,6 lmao

Bottom line...we do not deserve a spot in the playoffs. We had our chance and chit the bed. Right now we'd damned well better be focused on Vandy or we're staring at 9-4 and a 3 game losing streak to end what once was a special season. Hope we can turn it around and finish 11-2. Would be a tremendous accomplishment.

I suppose anything is possible. Just don't see it happening. It will be so close, but no cigar.

How do you not see it?

Two teams directly in front of us lost today. We are at minimum going to #8.... LSU and USC are currently playing. They lose and they will drop lower than 8 so that means we would have to move up some more.....

Yeehaw. Lets just take care of Vandy
