Ha ha. Whatever. You started a stupid thread that makes no sense. Martin is finally appearing to have a pulse during the game. Maybe that's the difference in losing at home to AP and finally winning a road game. Players tend to take on the personality of their coach. It's nice to see some fire in Martin's belly for a change.

It's been there since Day 1. Not my fault you haven't seen it.

If you think a coach jumping up and down and going crazy on the sidelines makes a difference in a win or loss, you have no clue what you are talking about. Just look at coach K, he sits most of the game, and look what he has accomplished.

i will take W's over T's any day of the week, sorry.

i could care less if he sits on his hands, and takes a nap, if we win it'll be fine with me. dont need to be jumping up and down screaming to be a winning coach, its a style thing. thats not ccm style so he doesnt want to do it, if his style works why ask him to change?

yea techincals, something a lost of firey yelling coaches get. ccm on the other hand doesnt receive them.

i could care less what he sounds like on the show, he is interesting IMO, have you heard tyson talk? it wouldnt stop me from watching his fights, its exciting.

your asking a guy who's in his 40's to change his style, and the pitch of his voice, kind of nit picking.

Since when are coaches supposed to be entertainers?

Last time I checked most programs that have really good teams have coaches that are "entertainers". As in they get involved with school outside of their sport, they fire up the program/fans, they are involved with media.

He does not have to change how he talks/acts to do these. He just needs time. I think he will start to do this next year when he is comfotable with the program.

Honestly though, no coach with experience that has a winning record is boring to watch or listen to. And I think Martin can easily become one of those coaches that fans/media like.

im pretty sure you dont see coach k entertaining people outside of winning games. i know for a fact calhoun doesnt i lived right by campus up there. they fire up the program by winning, give ccm time and he can too.

dont expect him to be a salesman like our previous coach was, im telling you that is not his style. look at as an ast at purdue or hc at miss st, this just isnt something he does. dont hold your breath on him getting out there and hyping up the program at every opportunity like pearl did.

you nailed it in your last statement. no coach with experience and a winning record is boring to listen to. thats why, they are winning coaches. if you wanted someone to speak at a banquet to entertain people coach k probably wouldnt be your guy. you would want someone like, gulp, cal. as you said no coach with a winning record is boring to listen to, but you have to give them a chance to get that winning record. when coach k was at army or first came to duke and had losing records you think he was fun to listen to? no! he stuck with his style though and now anyone in their right mind would love to listen to the man speak.

You're so right. Martin never has had passion before a month ago.

Yeah you really see coach K, Tom Izzo, Bill Self, and others holding huge pep rallies to fire up the fans.

You clearly didn't see coach k early in his career.

I expect a coach to coach. Martin was glued to the bench until the last month.

Who the hell expects Martin to hold a pep rally? I like seeing Martin actively coach during the game. Looking at our recent success so do the players.

a poster was claiming he needs to be an entertainer.

thats where the pep rally comment came from. sorry but coaches arent supposed to be entertainers, if they choose to be like our previous coach that is fine, but they dont need to be in order to be succesful.

Who ever said anything about jumping up and down? I was tired of seeing us play like crap with Martin planted in his seat. It's about time he's gotten involved in actively coaching between the whistles.

We all know you're a Martin slurper. Martin's a great coach, it's the players that suck. It's not Matin's fault we have a roster full of non playing basketball crap.

Funny, because when my ass was glued to the baseline for many November/December games, I could recall CCM standing and yelling quite a bit. :dunno:

Nope. We were just imagining things at TBA.

Glad to see UT IE 95 never watches the game.

Nope. Have I claimed Martin's greatness in this thread? Nope, not at all.

I just think it's absolutely and utterly asinine (and flat our wrong) to come on here saying Martin shows no passion and does no coaching, which is a complete joke. Hell, the announcer said he liked how Martin is always teaching during the game. It's a lie what you are saying.
