Now Mods please don't move this to the Recruiting Forum I work hard on this and I want all of VN to see it....

I want to say that the following are Heisman winners and contenders: Collen Klien, Steve Slaton, Mike Hart, Colt Brennan, Chase Daniels, Toby Gerhart, Kellen Moore, Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, Mark Ingram, and Johnny Manziel were all 3 stars or lower. Also to point out that there have only been 3 5 star players (McFadden, T. Richardson, and Tebow) to make it as finalist and only one of them was named winner(Tebow) since 2006.

I wanted to say this is because we had a commitment from a 3 star recruit today. Of Course some of the fans weren't ecstatic about the pick up. I just wanted to shed a little light on the 3 star worries. Three star recruits have been in more Heisman voting than Four stars and Five Stars.

This goes to show that its not about the level of talent that you pull in its about how the recruit fits your system. You also need the coach and staff to coach them to another level to make them play like 5 star and 4 star recruits. For every 4 star and 5 star commits that lives up to its potential, you can name a bust that didn't.

Lets Stay bUTch Strong guys. We are going to bring this program from the dead Go F******* Vols!!!!

Also, it is interesting to see the 3* Heisman finalists and who was/wasn't purely system players, i.e. the Kellen Moore, Chase Daniels, Steve Slatons, etc.

This is meaningless. There are thousands of 2 and 3 star players each year and a handful of 4 and 5 star players. The 2 and 3 star players win out by sheer strength in numbers.

Was about to post something like this. I'm no star gazer, but there is clearly a sampling bias in those numbers.

How many 3 star recruits do Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Florida have? I'm behind every volunteer, but its not difficult to see what happens when you are rated behind your competition in terms of recruiting classes. We are not beating these teams....period. I'm sorry. It sucks, but if we are going to win then CBJ needs to sign top 10- 15 classes starting NEXT year.

Ok great..You named 11 players that were 3 star that were good. What about the other 10 thousand 3 stars that suck. Oh yeah, just look at our team the past 10 years..you can get 150 of em there.

That being said, I am excited about today's commit simply because LSU offered. LSU seems to judge defensive talent fairly well.

Not mad about this or any 3 star recruits. Fact is though we should all be happier with 4 and 5 star recruits and these pointless preachings will go away. It's a dumb argument anyway. I will take team full of 5 star players and beat the hell out of your 3 star players damn near every time.

Look at the Bcs champions the past 10 years and the rivals recruiting rankings and you'll see a strong correlation. Sorry guys but to win in the sec TN must sign top 10 rivals recruiting classes year in and year out. Recruiting rankings matter. Period!

There is a reason why some guys are 3 stars and not 4 or 5 stars. Check out our defense lately and you will notice we have 3 star guys all over the field ........and they can't catch a single wr or rb in the sec from behind.
