Fowler and Pollack say Tennessee

Respect is earned not given. Michigan, Nebraska, & Texas are historical powers that are simply jokes now in the nations eyes....and that is what they think of us too.

But I have the feeling Butch & #118 are about to flip that rubbish this year!
Go Vols!

Is a lower tier SEC team? I am extremely bothered by this comment! Does this bother any of my fellow Vol fans as well? We have had a bad run here the last decade but historically we are not a lower tier SEC team. Someone needs to remind these ESPN analysts who we are!

Probably based upon the # of times in a row we have lost to UF & UA. Add to it - 2 yrs losing to Vandy & Mizzou. In 2014 we are. ESPN panel picks us to lose by 21+.If we prove them wrong, it is another step up the ladder.

Nobody in the country outside our team and fans thinks we can win this game. I like that

Two things I'm tired of:

1.Losing

2. Opinions from ala, ga, and fla homers on EVERY pre game or post game show. :realmad:

Whew! Now I feel better ! :shakehead:

The Tennessee football team needs to remind Fowler and Pollack who we once were with their play in the field.....by winning....by not losing to top teams by 35-45 pts.

We HAVE been a bottom tier program the last 6-7 years. They're right, and they won't stop saying crap like this until UT's play on the field disproves it and shuts them up.

It has been sometime to get anywhere near the upper tier. My heart says yes you are correct...My mind says no we are not!

I guess Boston College is better than us since #9 USC is going to struggle bad with them and we're going to get raped today  Didn't know they had that level of talent there :dunno:

Have to play like the upper tier teams to get respect! We are on our way but not there currently. Truth hurts

I agree with you all. I know we need to start winning to be relevant again. It's just hard to acknowledge how far our national relevance has fallen.

Can't fix the problem until you recognize the problem. Butch has begun the process of turning it around but we're not there yet, not this year. We're not relevant yet and although I suspect, like you, that Fowler and Pollack love saying that we're an SEC bottom feeder, they're right until further notice.

What bothers me is that we still have fans that do not realize this. We have been but that is changing quick!

We aren't a top tier program right now. Historically speaking we are, but currently are not. The only thing that bothers me about it is pollack uses every chance he gets to take a shot at us. He grew up a uga fan watching ut humiliate the bulldogs just about every year. Uga was second tier to tn for sure. Hell they were second tier compared to half the league. Then richt started to turn things around and make them relevant. But pollack still remember those days and tries to take every shot at us he can. Espn should tell him to offer as unbiased of information as he is capable of. You don't hear Herbstreit constantly talking up Ohio state do you? No, because he is a professional. Pollack is just a immature piece of garbage.

I don't think anyone likes negative comments about their team, the bad years are going to be brought up until we start competing at the higher level. Taking down USC was an indicator and the UGA game showed a glimpse of things to come as well. Can we beat OU....sure, but things are changing, this game could very well shut up a lot of critics. I think our Defense can handle OU's Offense, but we need to sustain drives and keep OU's offense off the field.

We have been. We haven't failed to prove we're not. They need to point that out to protect SEC national perception. If OU pounds us, it's conf #1 against conf #8 (?), so no big deal. If we hang tight, it reflects well on SEC. If we win, it reflects great on SEC.

If we lose big and play well in SEC play, Stoops pounds his chest with a big grin.

By the way, when CBJ was at Cincinnati, the talent gap existed there too when they played OU......never know......we'll see tonight.

Believe! GBO!

What are they supposed to say? We are a top SEC team? If they did they would look like fools.
