Franklin to Penn State

Apparently Vandy is making yet another counter offer to Franklin. This is just getting embarrassing.

I don't buy that either. What idiot would sign a $10 mil buyout at Vandy?

I think it was something Vanderbilt made him agree to because they built him the indoor practice facility he wanted to make Vanderbilt more appealing.

James Franklin's contract is tied to $31 million Vanderbilt facility upgrades - FanSided - Sports News, Entertainment, Lifestyle & Technology - 240+ Sites

Whether it's true or not, I don't know. I've seen it mentioned on Vandy's board though.

Sorry to derail this thread that's full of karate choppin' and all around badassery, but a Vandy mod on 247 just dropped a nuke.

Their fans actually think what Franklin is doing to them is worse than what Kiffin did to us.

Kiffin left on January 13th. It's January 10th and Franklin still hasn't left. Leaving this close to NSD is the same thing.

Orgeron was calling Tennessee recruits and telling them not to sign so they could flip to USC and go with them. Franklin's assistants have been recruiting for Penn State but the haven't been recruiting Vanderbilt players as far as I've read. So, Kiffin and his staff is worse in that regard.

Kiffin bolted after 1 year while Franklin at least gave them 3. So, Kiffin is also worse in that regard. Not to mention, everyone knows Vanderbilt is a stepping stone and not a premiere program. No good coach will ever stay there because they'll receive offers from better programs. There aren't that many schools that can offer more than Tennessee. So, it's worse that Kiffin used Tennessee as a stepping stone after 1 season because Tennessee basically has it all. Vanderbilt has nothing, so of course you're going to leave if you have success there.

Ultimately, Kiffin's departure is worse than Franklin's. Franklin's departure is pretty crappy though. Still, it's not surprising at all he's leaving that crappy football program. Not sure why Vanderbilt fans suddenly feel so entitled in football when they've always sucked.

Your asinine for thinking I meant Vandy was going to be the next Florida...although some on here act like it. Franklin is a jerk....like Spurrier...or even Kiffin. Many t-shirts were made about the hatred for him too...Will Rogers never met Steve Spurrier Smack Talk Tshirts.

Everyone loves it when a jerk gets beat. That is why I said everyone loves beating the bad guy....regardless of the team or coach. Try to keep up little fella and comprehend the whole post.

I think we can read your post fine without the size 20 and bold font.

What if CJF actually was involved to some degree in the rape situation in that he knew about it and covered up some info?

Perhaps there are people in and around Nashville that have remained quiet because they didn't want to lose CJF as their coach. Now that CJF is most likely leaving them to go to PSU and he's apparently done it in a way to piss off a lot of people associated with the program... will they now talk? If so, it could leave CJF without a job at either place.

Not saying that's the case, but just what if...

You can add their co-DC Pry turning down a head coaching job at Georgia Southern last week.

Pry turns down Georgia Southern

Sounds like he was interested but something changed, maybe like an offer to be the DC at Penn State...

I would think those people could potentially be in some serious trouble if they just came out now and talked.

Absolutely, but it could be possible the info comes from a third party or any other backdoor way to the media or Vandy/PSU people?

I just think this whole situation stands a very good chance to blow up in CPF, Vandy and PSU's faces. Time will tell.

I'm not buying that.

I could see it being in the contract, but I'm not sure a judge would enforce it if Franlin/PSU sued them. I think if it is in there they probably negotiate to something around the 6.5M that the Texans just paid for O'Brien.

The buyout might be big, but I really doubt there is language that puts Franklin on the hook for facilities improvements. That would be Vandy saying "we wouldn't have improved our facilities if Franklin didn't request it. We don't really care that much."

Given the history of Vanderbilt's football program, that sounds accurate.

But then it would just be rumor and hearsay, and I don't see how that would hurt him in any tangible way. Unless something specific that is new info that directly ties him to some kind of cover-up, then it's not going to affect him; if that would then they never would have considered him in the first place.

Very true... just thought about this scenario as a possibility if he has lied to Vandy people and burned bridges during this process to the point where it pissed off the wrong person.

Well if that is going on behind the scenes, then this whole thing is going to have a very different outcome than anyone expected.

He not gone yet, he is not going to much time in between talking..
If he was going he would hve done committed to Penn State..
