Fugate leaving

The situation with the qb's was addressed by Butch earlier in the week. On alternating days, one of the qb's will dress and go through practice but won't throw. It's a plan to prevent any of them from overdoing it with the heavy amount of practice they are going through.

Does anyone know why Worley didn't take snaps?

With Justin Worley dressed but not throwing as the staff continued its 'maintenance day' program for quarterbacks, Nathan Peterman took the majority of snaps with the Vols' first-team offense. Joshua Dobbs and Riley Ferguson also got an increased workload

Is it just me, or does something seem odd about that? Maybe they aren't going to end up with him as the starter after all, unless they're giving him a break because he's so far ahead of everyone else.

could be the coaches have all ready picked there starter and are just giving the other QBs some practice time,a huge guess on my part too lol

I liked this from the article

With Vol legend Al Wilson addressing both the collective team and defensive unit individually today

and best wishes to young Mr Fugate , wherever he goes and plays

This caught my attention as well. What is a 'maintenance day program' for quarterbacks? Maybe he sits out and observes , seeing the gameplan, calls, reads, etc...kinda like film study but with live action? Well, that's all I came up with lol.

Think of it as a pitchers rest day. I'm glad we have these. It prevents a decline in velocity later on, and arm issues.

Fugate was awesome in high school. He was looking good at fullback, then suddenly fell into Dooley's doghouse. Never recovered. I thought he would blossom under Jones, but looks like there is something about him coaches don't like.

Ok. Can he not fight for a spot? I would think he would be great back at fullback. Good luck to him.

I'm guessing I was a backup plan?

Looks like he was expressing some disappointment in this tweet from 2 days ago

Thanks Burger, this was my initial thought...then I over thought it LOL. But while resting the QB, this would give him the opportunity to see practice like my earlier post. Let him work thru practice with his mind, while his body rests.

He did look promising at FB the few times I saw him play. They should have kept him there.

I thought so too. Does anyone remember discussions from last year that supposedly he has a bit of an attitude problem? It seemed like he was in the dog house for a while.

Wasn't he switched to LB by Dooley? I could be and probably am wrong. Does Butch incorporate a fullback much in his offense?

Well he's not going to impress any NFL scouts on the bench so if this is the best choice he has then good luck to the young man.

Fugate was an absolute beast in HS, and was misused his entire time at UT. I don't blame him one bit for leaving, and I will be a huge fan of his when he gets a legitimate shot somewhere and ends up in the league someday.

Really?

Pitchers throw 70-80 pitches every 4-5 days. How many times do you think we are we gonna throw the ball each Saturday?

I thought Fugate would be a contributor for the Vols as a senior. Unfortunately we may have another player or two leave prior to the start of the season. This is why depth is so vital for winning in the SEC, all the SEC teams are like mini NFL squads. The SEC today is so extremely competitive, more so than ever before.

Laughable... 3 coaches have seem him at his point... And none thought we was that good or he woul have played. More...Remember our team has been bad for several years and not to play means that you were not that good

No, this is just routine. CBJ has a list of things that needs fixing in his office, and the QB's earn there playing time by fixing things up.
