I also tend to think that getting blown out by your two arch rivals, having 5-6 seasons and having your team quit on you on more than one occasion brings more heat on Fulmer than having a championship game put in place.

That's been pointed out so much on here I thought it went w/o saying.

It was the quitting part that really brought the heat, IMO. Quitting is nothing even remotely close to anything Vols fans associate with UT football.

Our tradition was built by players who played beyond their talent. The talent came to the Hill after the sacrafices made by those Vols.

Our players don't have to know those guys to understand how they played.

All the have to do is...

Be like Berry!

I can't argue with this one--and it all happened right after Berry got us excited with that 95 yd pick 6.

That was my 'low tide.'

Good post, BPV!

Can you blame a team that gets deflated after the fumble return for a touchdown?

The football team has played soft since 2002. The 1st 4 years of the BCS system UT won once, was 1 game away twice (Arkansas and LSU). They were a tough team to beat on Saturday and competing for the title every year. Since that time they have not been tough and even making 2 SEC championship games they were not in the top 10 and found themselves 14 point or more underdogs in the game. The head coach of a huge organization like the Vols is equivalent to the CEO of a major corporation. A CEO can't micro-manage. His job is to hire talented people and then listen to them. I don't really care who the CEO of the Vols is as long as the team plays tough hard nosed football instead of this soft stuff. Since 2001 the CEO of the Vols has not listened to his staff nor has he hired talented people (current staff jury is still out). Hopefully that will change this season otherwise I would not want to be at the next BOD meeting.

The Volunteer football team has a bunch of new coordinators and coaches. We'll see how the CEO has addressed your concerns in the '08 season.

hman you are one of the best posters on this site but dont you agree we are somewhat spoiled as fans.
