You don't really believe that do you?
i don't know about the game, but i'd of been hard pressed to believe that he could lose to Bama and Florida like he did, and then be able to lose to any of the following teams and feel real comfortable after the season: GA, SC, Ark, KY.

for my money, i believe the GA and ARK games were job savers last year.

so we're perceived as a championship caliber team? do you think we were?

There is no way you can justify firing a coach that took a team to the SECCG and wiped the floor with UGA.

I don't claim this is right, but imagine the media firestorm created if the coach was fired. Nothing good could come of it.

considering how the season started, everything that had to happen last year for cpf to remain aboslutely safe happened.

Exactly which makes you think he either knows what he's doing or is the luckiest man on the planet.
crap. do i have to decide right now, or can i think on it for a bit?:eek:lol:

i'm going to get up on my fence and say.....probalby a little bit of both.:p

Im not sorry we went to Atlanta, but a fortunate series of events occurred to get us there and our trip to Atlanta is being used to rationalize away alot of core issues in our program.

If Tennessee fired CPF after last season, the school would look like Arkansas.

I would say the UGA debacle with USC and the inexplicable losses by UF to UGA and Auburn would be reasonable exhibits in the "luckiest man on the planet in '07" debate.

You know, this debate has been had for months now, but I think this is the best I have seen our SECCG run articulated .... a fortunate series of events rationalizing core issues. Very good and very true statement.

Im only half serious, but how do you see our year going? Petrino will build a winner there in time.

I could see Tennessee losing two games or losing five. It just depends on how the summer goes. A lot can happen between now and the first game and I can't make a reasonable prediction now.

I believe the D will be as good as 2005's D. The offense has a chance to be great, but they still need work.

Petrino will be run out of Fayetteville in 3 seasons after failing to match Houston Nutt's win totals there.

so we'd have some momentum and excitment surrounding the team?
no. unless you call blue hairs doing the spirit finger whoo pig cheer excitement.

Better than this? surely not?:p
we don't get to atlanta with out these four things happening: us beating GA, GA losing to SC, FL losing to LSU, Aub and GA, and us winning 4 straight to close the season.

all had to happen for us to get there. it did. i'm not sorry about it.

I think BP will lock down the state's top guys and build a winner. Just my humble opinion.
he's got some work to do in besting Nutt.

Bottom line is that he must make inroads in TX and OK to truly be a beast in the SEC. Locking down AR won't do that for him.

Nutt did a very good job with some very subpar talent, Petrino doesn't strike me as that type.

they have a lot of work to do up there. Mallet won't be enough to bring them around full circle.

and eventually he's going to have be able to prove he can go in to OK, TX, LA and get kids to come to Fayetteville. ARK is a decent state, but he can't build that program year in and year out just on home state kids.

:eek:lol:great minds think alike i guess?

well that, and the talent level in the SEC vs. the talent level in the Big East are different.

i think BP would be more successful at a more established program where he could get great talent.

ARK is going to be tough for him.

Do you think Petrino looks at Arky as a final destination or a stepping stone to a higher profile college program or back to the NFL? I think he's gone from there in 4 years or less by his own choosing.

i think the NFL is sour on him right now given how he left Atlanta.

i would not be surprised however, if he left fayetteville in 3-4 years for another, higher profile, college job.
