It will be 10 years if UT doesn't win the SEC this year, where do you get the myth part?

1) 2008
2) 2007
3) 2006
4) 2005
5) 2004
6) 2003
7) 2002
8) 2001
9) 2000
10) 1999

You are correct, Sir!

Let's play the 2008 season before we count it as another one without a championship. :good!:

This season, the tenth anniversary of our last national and SEC championship. Hopefully that's a good omen. If not, no more pay raises or extensions for CPF should be the order of the day until he wins the SEC again.

he's got some work to do in besting Nutt.

Bottom line is that he must make inroads in TX and OK to truly be a beast in the SEC. Locking down AR won't do that for him.

Nutt did a very good job with some very subpar talent, Petrino doesn't strike me as that type.

I dont look for Ark to be a beast, but I do see a consistent winner coming.

That seems fair to me as well. Actually, I think he probably needs to win the SEC within the next few years to maintain his contract. I also think he knows that.

I hope we win it this year and put this all to rest. But if not, how many more years are you willing to give him before you lose your patience.

0...i've already lost patience with him and i'm now accepting that we are the "M" word

As in challenging for the West every year and then finishing 2nd or 3rd?

with the West win every 3 or so years and the occasional BCS bowl. Look, I was a big fan of Houston, I thought he was he was great at getting more from less than most coaches. But I think he made some completely boneheaded decisions that cost him his job. Those terrible decisions werent just on the field. I guarantee that the whole text message thing had alot to do with his exit.

I agree, he did make the most out of what he had to work with. Every year Arkansas surprised me when I expected very little. He did his share of stupid calls though.

Whoring himself out for a QB didn't work too well either.

I just think Arkansas made at best a lateral move.

Hard to say. It depends on the details.

When you lose the SEC by a 4th Qtr pick 6 to the eventual national champions, that's close enough to taste it.

Hypothetically, if we, go 11-1, losing only to an undefeated UF team who wins the NC this fall (and thus we don't even win the east--thereby avoiding all the piss on the east posts here), it would take utter stupidity to fire Fulmer.

Who on the face of the planet worth their salt would take a job at an institution that clueless about the realities of winning championships?

My ealier prediction for this fall was that we'd go 11-1 in the regular season, losing only to Auburn, who we beat in the SEC CG, but then don't get to go to the NC because of an undefeated Big 10 or Big 12 champion playing USC. There's no way any objective person would want to fire Fulmer under that scenario.

If the Vols win 10 or more games (as they did last year), and don't win the SEC championship, my guess is that Fulmer will stay as long as he wants. Such seasons in the SEC are far from a being a cake walk for any coach.

Lombardi would not dominate the SEC as it is now. No one will.

one thing i will add to mba's post....Rex, it does put things in perspective......as bad as the FL and Bama games were last year, that little girl just looked up and smiled at me anyway......made both games easier.

plus my daughter gets it...eve at 3 1/2 months old...this was taken during the FL game last year.....tha'ts my girl!!!:eek:lol:

My daughter was born Nov. 3 2006 in the morning before the loss to LSU. I watched with my wife, my daughter sleeping nearby. That was the only lost game I watched with a smile on my face. Even though my Vols lost, everything was still ok with the world. Funny what being a dad does to you.
I bet I was one of the few Vol fans smiling at the end of the SECCG this past Dec. My daughter was born at the start of the 4th quarter.
