Do you know Mike Hamilton personally? The reason I ask is because you have made some comments about his character that are simply not true in any regard. I can tell you he has plenty of guts AND he is no chicken sh**

Nope, never met him, however, he did hold The UT's feet to the fire on a big payoff after the NCAA debacle with CBP (and if you believe for one minute that there wasn't a pay for silence deal going on, then I have some beach front property in N. Texas I will sell you). I only know him from what he did to the AD and I for the most part don't care for his changes. My narrative was meant to be mostly humorous too, but, it probably didn't come off that way. I don't think that he was a strong AD. He may have been a good person, but IMHO, he was not a good AD. Maybe not a bad one, but not a good one.

Post 9550 btw, go go go.

You don't know him either, do you?

Laugh all you want. And what university have you spent time in the AD?

I am not saying he was strong AD, but not nearly as bad as some claim. Of course, you will hear it quite a bit from the uninformed Phillip Fulmer sympathizers, how it is MH's fault the football program went into the crapper

Not MH's fault with the recruiting or coaching aspect of the program. I also challenge you to show me a post where ANYONE said that it was his fault. I maintain that looking back over MH's years here, he showed many times what a bad AD he was. He could have made an effort to negotiate with CPF about his leaving. Instead, according to you, the "well you won't retire so you're fired decision" was made in 2 hours. I was ready for CPF to go, but good god man, 2 hours to make a decision for a 16+ year career as a HC? He hit a home run with CBP (until he got caught doing what everyone else does and then LIED about it), so he tried in football and baseball. And the debacle with the women's basketball team (I can't remember what was said there but remember it was a huge issue). I am not nor will I ever be an MH fan, period.

it's pretty evident when you look at the state of our Athletic programs we're in bad shape, and it collapsed under his watch, and not just Football, but Basketball too

Not much of a challenge. There are many posts within this thread stating as much.

MH inherited a much better Athletic Dept. than he left for Dave Hart. :birgits_giggle: I've been dying to say that. I bet you blame gas prices on CPF dont you?

Can't argue with that

The other statement concerning Fulmer is silly, but what I've come to expect from the uninformed, University of Fulmer crowd. I am sorry the fellow you worship ran the program into the ditch. I wish things could have turned out differently, but it's nothing more than spilt milk now. Rightly so, he's gone and DD is finally seeing some light from that hole he started in

The fellow I worship is Jesus Christ. I think Phil was the best coach that I've seen at Tennessee. I liked and like him. I think the situation could have been handled better. I'm in the University of Tennessee crowd. I hope CDD goes 252 - 52. I love the orange. Just because I think the administration did a coach that I like dirty does not make me any less of a fan. I'm sure you're a great fan too 2Iron, I mean that in all honesty.

Go Big Orange!!!!!

The board of trustees had to vote on the firing of Phil, all Hambone did was become their messenger. I'm not taking up for Hambone but the blaming of him as the reason Phil is no longer here or how it was to be handled was discussed prior to the meeting between Phil and Hambone.

Once again, "by all means", please quote one poster on here that has said that they "hate" CPF. There is a vast difference between hating someone and not idolizing them. There is a vast difference in looking at a career as a whole and pointing out the bad with the good and only looking at a record and treating that as the be all end all of his career here. If you can't stand to have some of the facts that you want to ignore pointed out to you about CPF, then you really shouldn't be on this thread. Because, while there is a lot that I and pretty much everyone posting here are proud of about CPF, there are also some things that we aren't happy about with him. The condition of the football team when he was let go being chief among them. [/QOUTE]

Love how the Fulmer Haters have it all figured out. Now, "by all means", please go and find where someone said they "idolize" Fulmer. We have not and will not worship idols in our family. I certainly haven't seen anyone post that they idolize anyone either. Must have missed it. -- Now then, looking at Fulmer's career as a whole, pointing out the bad with the good, you will see that it is one of the all-time best in this league. Still top 10 in league wins. If you just look at the record, thereby treating it as the end all and be all, you will see that not many coaches in college history win 100 more than they lose. Which is also good a good thing. So, it appears however you want it..... -- Who has pointed out any "facts" to me? Even if they had, it could not bother me. The fact is, I was quite right in my assessment of CPF and his career. I have no problem being in this thread. This is light work. :whistling:

You funny bro! Your man love for CPF far outstrips EVERY other Fulmerite on this thread. Your agreement with BO1 is like someone on the far left or far right telling a moderate they are exactly right. Just doesn't jive with ALL of your other posts. :peace2:

MH was told to let him go, I am fairly sure it was up to MH how to get it done. I think that the way it came down indicates a certain amount of either spinelessness or uber-ego on MH's part. I can't decide which. If I believe 2iron, it is the ego one. However, seeing the way he worked UT when he was let go, I have to think it was at least some of the former also. I don't know how it went down, NO ONE but MH, CPF, and some of the folks close to them actually know. I think it could have been handled better by starting the conversation with "CPF, you are being let go at the end of the season, you can either retire or the board will force you to retire. There isn't any negotiation to it happening, just how it will happen. We will finish this discussion after the season." That is assuming that they had to tell him (which they did in order to get a coaching search started). The way it was handled to me smacks of knee-jerk by both parties, one on purpose by MH and one that was an honest REACTION by CPF. Had the notice be given and at least thought about by both parties, the parting may have been handled better. Once again, this is SUPPOSITION on my part and nothing more and it will always be such because we as fans are not privy nor should we be to the inner workings of the AD.

Preshate it. I have never worshipped anyone else, so me and BO1 agree. Man love? Please elaborate.

Just saying that you are the Fulmeritest of the Fulmerites. I would be willing to bet if we sat down over a cold one, we would agree more than we disagree. I am calling a truce with all Fulmerites because I am slowly becoming converted and that would look bad. I have a middle of the road rep to TRY and maintain so I can't be moving in your direction. Although, if too much Fulmer HATE surfaces, I may be forced to defend him. My motto in his last years was (wife is a witness, I swear) "I would rather win with him than win without him. But I want to win again."
