Fulmer debate extravaganza (merged)

There was never a yearly salary figure floating out there so I don't buy that theory. When Kansas and Arkansas HC came available Phil and other coaches had no problem throwing their name in the hat for consideration.... That sure was not the case here...thanks Phil

Fulmer was never a serious candidate for either job, just ask Vicki.

Still there was not like coaches who did not make their name known they were interested, can't say that for UT.

I think that had to do more with our AD being a mess honestly.

Hambone was going off of orders and was the fall guy, the firing of Phil was decided by the BOT not Hambone, the hiring of Kiffen was voted on by the BOT, not Hambone. So for a fan to sit and blame Hamilton 100% for the hiring of DD is simply wrong. The BOT voted on the hiring of DD as well, perhaps it was a financial issue at the time, no one really knows but we do have a Governor Haslam now.

Hammy convinced him he could hire the right guy, and his job was tied to that. While Kiffin is doing well at USC, he was a terrible fit here. the Kiffin debacle pretty much cost Hammy his job.

There are some of us who feel like the Kiffen hire wasn't as much a bad hire as it was a good hire but just some misfortunate events. Hamilton did a poor job controling Kiffen which is something AD at USC doesn't have a problem with and in some polls USC is pre ranked #1. The players Kiffen recruited hasn't worked out for us for the most part but there is no doubt Kiffen is not a terrible coach.

Kiffin was a good hire. If PC hadn't left USC, then Kiffin would still be here, and we would be in the talk as a favorite to win the east this year. We all knew if the USC job ever came open he was gone, we just didn't expect it to happen that soon.

Kiffen sold the all star staff that he would assemble here and that was the deciding factor as to why he was hired. The misfortunate thing was the USC opening and the lack of control Hamilton showed towards Kiffen.

yep..Shows just how horrible Hamilton was at hiring

OSU hires Meyer, Hambone hires Dooley

And you continue to show us how little you actually know about the process. Hamilton was only a facilitator. He didn't haven't anything close to unilateral authority to make big hires yet igorant fans are still making silly comments like this one.
