Great answer!!!

Who would you hire?
You don't just forget how to win lol.

Add a bad hire, recruiting regulations set by Hamilton. His hands were tied for a while.

Do you understand that UT set the standards to get into UT higher than NCAA and SEC regulations required. Heck it is easier to get into Vandy than it is to get into UT.

Damn Cheek started all this stuff and football is now suffering. Take a look around we are getting left behind.

And the worst part is Fulmer was the only coach to fight Cheek and Hamiltons little plan. He got fired for it with the help of a foolish fan base. Now people are looking around all confused with a lost look in their eyes. Why because the coach that was trying to save the program and inform people about what going on got fired.

that was cute but Cheek was hired in 2009

Making stuff up won't get Fulmer here. Cheek was hired after Fulmer was fired.

I may have missed on Cheek, but argue about the rest. Tell me about how UT didn't set the standards higher than SEC and NCAA standards. Tell me CPF didn't fight against it.

Hamilton killed this program!!!

Now the coaches your going to gamble on are no better than the one that was fired. Winning isn't the answer.

Winning NC is.

Fulmer is a winner. 152-52 is a winner. You can't just make up numbers and just throw him the HOF if he didn't win. How many of the coaches that are up for the UT job do think will make it into the hall of Fame. Cause guess what if they are going to win a NC they are going to have to have at least something close to a HOF run to win in the SEC.

And people are mad because it was divided when he was fired and things are by far worse now then it was then.

sorry but every one of your points has already been beaten to death in this thread. Fulmer is done and should never coach at UT again. Sure 98 was great but the years that followed were hard to stomach. He got his bucks from UT and should be happy

Arguing the past against the present isn't going to get him here either.

Fulmer was great in the SEC in the 90s. Different coaches, different teams from today though.

I just laugh at those that suddenly think Fulmer will be able to go head to head with Saban, Spurrier, Miles, Muschamp, etc. after being out 4 years, considering he was going down before he left.

Please wake up.

He coudn't go against them then. No reason to think he could now. Same guys except swap Muschamp for Meyer.

You guys are F8*king idiots.............152-52 and he is a Hall of Fame coach

If he isnt a winner idk what is

Maybe we do derserve what we got.....A Sh**ty team for a Sh*ty fanbase

The truth is we need to be competitive again.

Fulmer had us competitive.

2001 1st in the east
2003 tied for 1st in the east
2004 1st in the east
2007 1st in the east

what do we have since he left?

Now if your going to tell me he didn't win the big game. I want you to hold whoever we decide to hire to those same standards. Who can beat Saban, Meyers, Miles and Spurrier.

Personally I would take Fulmer back at least we were competing.

Sorry.....Fulmer was the reason Tennessee enjoyed it's success. CPF is a victim of his own success.

See you still fighting the fight.

I must say I agree with your post with one exception. I would say the reason for TN success was a combination of both Majors and Fulmer. Majors brought the program back to being relevant. Phil continued the success and brought us the first BCS Championship.

We did get spoiled with all those 10 win seasons.

Hope you are enjoying the holidays Gramps. This is why they invented grandkids.
I am still fighting the fight because I think I am right. CPF created the success and it was his downfall. 2 bad years and the young fanbase deserts him. Just like VN did.

He couldn't win against the good coaches in the SEC. That's what it came down to.

This statement is completely irrelevant unless UT had hired coaches that could have won against good SEC teams. Rather they hired coaches that couldn't win against average SEC teams. 2 SEC wins over last two years kills your argument.

All that means is they made poor choices following Fulmer.

Doesn't mean it was wrong to fire Fulmer.

Looking at his last 4 years, he went 2-2 against Richt, 2-2 against Spurrier, 0-2 against Saban, and 0-4 against Meyer. Not great, but not many teams beat those guys except themselves.

People who blame Fulmer for the crap (and also call him a fake by saying "Cutcliffe made him") should have listened to ESPN Radio yesterday. They discussed how important coordinators are. Look what Meyer did at Florida after he lost one. Look what Stoops did at Oklahoma when he lost one. The quality went down. Fulmer made a bad decision with Clawson, most likely would have replaced him the next year, and if it was a better coordinator, we wouldn't be searching today.

in 2007 Louisiana-Monroe beat Saban's bama team in Tuscaloosa. Fulmer got beat by 24

At this point in time, would we rather have Fulmer, Dooley, Kiffin or Majors on the sidelines for the 2013 season?
