Fulmer debate extravaganza (merged)

Also, it's common knowledge that he tried to get the Louisville job and got passed over. But then again, you've backed yourself so far into a corner that he would literally have to say "I desperately want them to offer me this job" before you would admit to what everyone else already knows.

Passed over for one job, and now everyone in the country doesn't want him. I've never said what I said was fact, because at this point it isn't. However, YOU keep claiming you have the facts and when asked to prove it, you can't. There have been an awful lot of "maybe getting paid..." or "maybe he enjoys his family time" that have come from me. I never once said that it "is".

Are you suggesting that it was a slip that betrays my inner thoughts about Fulmer? I hope not, because I picked it specifically to make fun of you.

Fulmer lovers are really smart.

I was thinking Freudian slip. Why make fun of me? It's just my opinion.

And maybe he was visited by his fairy godmother who said that he would get to spend his afterlife in Lollipop Land if he stayed at his investment firm for another year.

But there's only one conclusion that's actually supported by evidence.

It's circumstantial and you'll never really know otherwise because you won't know what is going through his mind, nor do you know what happened during the conversations/interviews. It is all speculation.

You're another that needs to quit being the ass.

And you don't mess with the fairy godmothers. They will eff your sh** up.

fulmer's sitting around with all those UT millions in the bank, living the good life---why get back into 80 hour weeks coaching, recruiting, etc.?? He can make some walking around money working as a tv analyst.

The answer is that he ISN"T getting back into coaching, no offers and none coming, unless he shoots for the bottom feeders, and barring a miracle as well.

Here's that word again: MAYBE no one thinks he will go, even if offered. MAYBE he's at peace with his life, despite people dragging him through the mud. You don't know s*** about what the ADs are thinking about him, nor do you REALLY know what is going through Fulmer's head.

If you had a good paying job with about 40 hours, were getting paid $6 million to do nothing, had a bunch of time to see your family and golf, would you give all that up for 80+ hour weeks?

If we didnt fire Phil.........we would have played in the SEC Title game this year instead of Georgia.

Phil is one of the all time greats of college football.

Hall of Fame coach.

Glad you didnt take the Kentucky job Phil, it would of broke my heart seeing you kick our a$$ every year.

I've actually said the first part since he was fired. I firmly believe that he would've made it or won the SEC by this year, passed Neyland on the wins, retired on his own, and we could get any coach we wanted.

Get ready for more spin. Your attitude will never fly with the "experts".

I don't get why it's so easy for people to trash Fulmer and say history showed he was lazy in recruiting and got complacent. That is a valid argument and history does show that. However, when people defend Fulmer and suggest that he would have rebounded, those people get calls idiots or homers. Their argument is using the same middle ground for the base of the claim. History showed Fulmer responded from seasons of 8 wins or less with a 9-11 win season. To say that Fulmer would have been happy with the 2008 season and not shook up the coaching staff or recruiting tactics is bull crap. Plus, with the coaching prospects out there, Fulmer should have stayed. You don't fire a coach and then just hope to land another.

That's another argument right there. They claim he was a terrible coach, and terrible recruiter. Yet, he had that many 9+ win seasons, even late in his career. So, to me, that means he was at least one or the other. But will the bashers admit that? Of course not.

He was great.

He got lazy.

He got fired.

We had a crappy AD.

Crappy AD made a bad hire.

Bad hire left after a year.

Crappy AD made the worst hire possible.

Crappy AD and worst coach ever are both fired.

The end...

Phil deserved to be fired. The AD hired two crappy coaches. But Phil still deserved to go.

But at the end of the day, UT football is a business. There were more losses of assets firing Phil as opposed to keeping him. We never had a plan in place to replace him. The one thing that baffles me is that all the big boosters didn't see this bull sh!t plan that Hamilton had. Most wanted Phil gone, but surely not at the "whatever the cost or replacement" attitude.

But lack of perpetration does not mean that Fulmer should have stayed.

The problem was that the AD was even worse than Fulmer.

They should have fired Hamilton first, then Fulmer.

I agree but acting like we had a master plan was fools gold and it cost us. We shoulda never fired him mid season. He deserved after the season announcement.
