Thornton and I have a lunch date later to discuss that very thing.

Ahhh, so you're lying about it. Got it.

You take the time to post on here, rather than take the same amount of time to send your information to someone that listens to VASF donors like yourself. Makes sense.

Do all of Rexvols threads just conveniently get shoved in this Fulmer debate thread? That sure makes it easy for the rest of us. Thanks Mods.

The only, and I mean ONLYYYYY, team in that list that compares is Ohio State. In fact, it's a bit DUMB of you, Rex, to think we compare to Oklahoma of the mid to late 90s.

so you're calling me dumb? VIA, I expected more class from you. Im not comparing us to any team on that list. just pointing out that a coaching change at the topcan have a positive effect and is often what's needed. these are examples of dramatic turnarounds that are relative to a new head coach taking over.

yes, that's what Im doing, lying. I had hoped that you would believe my about my lunch with Thunder Thornton. But alas, you found me out. You saw through my duplicity. pat yourself on the back.

People have been clamoring for new blood in the Tennessee football program for a long time. We've finally got some in a new OC, a new WR coach, a new RBs coach -- all outside of the traditional "promote from within" mentality. But because the guy at the tip top is the same, it looks like alot of people are intent on tooting the same old horn about how bad we are.

In the immediate short term, Phillip Fulmer is not going anywhere. It's just not going to happen. People need to relax and look at the positive turns our program has taken. There's so many reasons to be optimistic about the 2008 season that make it impossible to understand why people feel it necessary to resort to the same old "OMG NEW HEAD COACH!" argument. At least give the new blood a chance, for crying out loud.

It'd be a lot better for an example if you know, I hadn't said the same things a year ago.

However, we're better off right now than Oklahoma was in the 90s and better than USC in the 90s.

You know I'm on the "we need a new head coach" train, and have been since the end of 2006. However, the comparisons don't make sense. All you need to say: "No SEC Championships in 9 years."
That's all

you just misunderstood my point. I wasnt trying to compare the state of our program with theirs at those times. Just trying to illustrate the fact that a new head coach can take us back to elite status quickly.

also, your last sentence is true 100%

so just by virtue of gettig a job somebody's great? call me crazy, but they need to actually perform before you anoint them great.

In back-to-back posts. Hilarious.

Seriously? The coaches very well could get us there (along with a new head coach), but we need to see if they are capable of that before we pronounce them great.

That's my point. We need to at least give these changes a shot before we start bitching and moaning about how pathetic our coaching situation is. Who knows? The hires may turn out to be a brilliant move on Fulmer's part. Maybe they'll also turn out to be a bust. And if that's the case, we can all get back to bashing the head coach like we usually do.

But Fulmer is not going anywhere between now and September 1st. I understand the frustrations in not winning an SEC title in 9 years. It sucks. But maybe we could just wait and see whether the changes Fulmer has made are going to have a positive affect on the program before we start the complaining full swing.

3 great coaching hires

Great at least in the sense that none of them involved a walk down the hall and a change only of someone's title.

I'll give these new coaches the benefit of the doubt and wait to see what happens on the field in August.

Unbelievable really. No one is arguing the direction the program has gone the past 9 years. It's the stupid comparisons and constant complaining that gets old. We have a new offensive coaching staff in place. At least give it one season before you cry about everything.:cray:
