Fulmer debate extravaganza (merged)

I said pretty comparable. Obviously one was at the D-1 level. And Meyer won a BCS game.

Utah's season got UM him his big payday. But I put that season on par with Hawaii and June Jones' accomplishments last season - especially had they won the Sugar.

Meyer has proven he can win with others' talent - he's a good coach. He has yet to prove he can win with his players. Clawson built Richmond from doormat to contender.
Meyer didn't just win a BCS game. He took a team from sub .500 to unbeaten in two years and blew out pretty much everyone his last year there. Not to mention they won their BCS game by 4 touchdowns.
What talent did Utah have? Alex Smith would be nowhere without Meyer. Utah was bad before Meyer, and they are nothing special now. He also turned around Bowling Green instantly.

I'll give UM all the credit in the world for stepping into great situations. We'll see how UM holds up at UF the next three seasons. He's into uncharted head coaching territory - his third season at one school.

What was so great about Utah and 2-9 Bowling Green?

Judging by his recent claims of 50% being about the same as 80%, I'd say a 2-9 team is probably pretty close to being good in his book. Taking a 2-9 team to 803 is evidently about the same as taking a bad team to 0-11.

Look, I'm not one to say we shouldn't fire Fulmer because we couldn't find anyone better (we shouldn't be talking about firing him anyway).

But I SHOULD point out that when you take a team that is desperate to get back to the status it had in the 90s, even considering the fact that it's still a pretty good team, it doesn't always work out. Sometimes it does, but sometimes you end up with...well...

That's all I'm saying.

Bill Callahan was a terrible hire that I (and quite a few others) knew instantly would fail miserably. I feel like Mike Hamilton has done a good job so far in his two coaching hires. I trust he'll do a far, far better job replacing Fulmer than Nebraska did replacing Solich.

I don't think now is the time to make a change necessarily, but I think that fear of making a bad hire is always a bad reason to not make a change.

I can guarantee that Phil will be the coach of the Vols for the 2008 season. If it's a poor campaign, I'll be first in line requesting a change. Moaning about a change now is ridiculous, and quite simply, foolish.

Back to the original topic if given the opportunity CPF would run the score. He has done it 2 years in a row to GA. Running it up on FL is a different story, but given the opportunity he would esp at home.

The other topic........Tebow has a hell of an arm and is accurate also. He is a beast, and you have to admire him off the field for what he does. This being said I still would have a nice feeling inside after watching Berry our another one of our guys knock the living "poop" out of him, or any other Gator for that matter.

:eek:lol:and you called me out? What does it say that UM has the same number of NC's as Phil and he's only heading into his 3rd year?

All the CPF complaining just shows some people are willing to fight a battle they know they will lose. Heck, they already lost it.

CPF is the Head Football Coach at the University of Tennessee.

CUM is green and unproven.

If I were a troll, I'd expect that last claim to work well on a UF board. It amazes me how Fulmer critics are so quick to point out that CUM has won a NC and a BCS bowl--and that's more than enough to satisfy them that he is an elite coach.

Who knows if Fulmer could have won at Utah? He was never that desperate to find work.

Fulmer interviewed for the East Carolina job while he was an assistant. They didn't think enough of him to hire him. Try again.

As if CUM has been granted ever job he sought.

Point stands... we don't know if Fulmer would have won at Utah or not... and morever, most us don't care.

Point stands...
No, it doesn't. Your point was that somehow Fulmer was above coaching at at someplace like Utah. I proved you wrong. Now, place your head back up Fulmer's rectum. Were you injured when that SEC Championship Bandwagon you blathered on about crashed against a team playing its backup quarterback in Atlanta?

What proves he would have accepted a job at ECU had it been offered? What proves he wouldn't have won had he taken it?

He hasn't... he didn't... and CUM did. Who cares?
