He is first against coaches with ten years or more, and he is 5th with coaches of 5 years or more.

He more than likely will fall from first this season when Stoops hits 10 yrs, but thats still not bad for a guy that "spends so much time at the buffet".

Interesting also in those numbers is that Phil is the oldest coach in the top 10. He is also the 6th highest paid of the top 10. (Which tells me, Tennessee is getting a bargin regardless what some Fulmer detractors say.)

And according to that site, he is the only coach in the top 30 of winning percentages "on the hot seat".

That would be a 9 year title drought for you.

i'm too lazy to look this up, but what kind of list can actually put 1-0 Bo Pelini at the top? Jagodzinski has one season under his belt correct?

Your constant negativity and trashing of Fulmer is not very Christian like and is something you can improve on. /quote]
I will concede the fact that my jab at Phil's weight wasnt very Christian and please forgive me, however, for you to deem my "constant negativity" as not being Christian is laughable. Im only negative in regard to the current state of our program's leadership. Let's start a debate on Phil's weight as it pertains to his ability to lead young malleable men. Shouldn't he set the example of self-discipline and good health? And Bill, before you judge my Christian walk, maybe you can visit me for a couple of days and SEE WHAT I DO EVERY SINGLE DAY.

rex, I've commended you a couple of times for what you do. It's very admirable. But to say your negativity and bashing of Phil is laughable proves that you don't realize half the stuff you say on here. Good for you for what you do, but that doesn't give you the right to go the opposite direction when you get on this board.

Ive already conceded that fact that shouldnt have made the rude comment about Phil's weight. It was wrong of me and I apologize to everyone that read it. Please forgive me. What I find laughable is your assertion that my negativity toward the current leadership is somehow "not Christian".

I also can't take that site seriously at all if they predict Tennessee to finish 6-6 this year. Granted we are bringing in a new qb, but our dline should be good enough, our secondary is top notch, we have good wrs and a great corp of running backs. 6-6 would be as bad a letdown as the year we do not speak of.

actually let's go for it. Let's have Phil talk about the obvious weight he has lost in the past few years. It's very commendable of him.

how many years had Phil stood in front of players/youth/etc and talked about making "good decisions" and self discipline, all the while being morbidly obese?

it's how you present your negativity. it's one thing to question the play on the field, I will join you there. But there is no reason to bring his weight, character or any other aspects of him as just a regular person into the debate.

it's no worse than you consistently busting someone's chops for their weight while you try to turn someone else's life around after being hooked on a life of drugs.

Yeah because no one in the culture of football are big guys or anything.

Your argument is pretty weak. If Fulmer got caught with a DUI, cooking meth, smoking weed, snorting coke, being a "John", then maybe your argument would have legs to stand on.

yes, it is. I actually practice what I preach, but Bill, you wouldnt know that. You're trying to take a few of my backhanded shots about Phil's obesity and paint me as something Im not. I spend every day teaching people about God's ability to transform their lives and then I go out and feed the homeless, I visit the nursing homes, I go on mission trips to Mexico and Eastern Europe. I give my limited finances to about 10 different charities. I go to church about 5 days a week and I read the Word every single day. Feel free to call my center and ask anyone that answers the phone about me, they'll tell you that I walk it out. Of course I have a major problem with Phil and I made the mistake of poking fun at his weight. Again, I was wrong. But for you to think my being negative about our football team makes me less of a Christian is laughable, period.

there's a lot more on this board that you do that is opposite of the picture you just painted of yourself. Actually the way you love to describe yourself shows more about you. And for the final time, this has nothing to do with your negativity towards the football team's performance or lack thereof. It's your negativity towards people's character and personal problems that i'm bringing into question

But i'm done with this. You can live whatever life however you want to. Just please watch how you handle yourself on this board and remember it's a part of your life too just as your center(s) are.

Interesting debate. Surprised Mods have let it go, but I'm glad they have. I think if you are going to allow people to run our coach down, you should allow others to take up for him.

I see both sides as far as I am sure Rex is a good enough person, but I also understand where Bill is coming from, that Rex doesn't look like as good a person when he spends almost every post on this board trying to run down Phil Fulmer.

It's one thing to be disapointed that your team has not won a National or Conference title in 9 years. It's another however to run the man down every chance you get and call for his career. It would be akin to Bill and I not thinking you are a worthy Pastor because you aren't bringing in enough people to be saved each week, and we spend every minute of our existance picking on every little aspect of your life. It wouldn't be fair to you, and it's not fair to Phil. Especially when we don't know as much about being a Pastor as you, and you don't know as much about football as Phil.

By the way, while we are on the subject, why is it that churches feel the need to go away on these exotic mission trips to foreign countries when there are pleanty of people in the hill of Tennessee/West Virginia/North Carolina and all kinds of other places here at home that need just as much help?

Morbidly obese? I think you are taking the patented "Rex Reach" to a whole new level here.

Though we all use the terms "fat" and "obese" casually in conversation, there is a medical definition of the condition—and yes, obesity is considered a health "condition." According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), a person is considered "obese" when he or she weighs 20 percent or more than his or her ideal body weight. At that point, the person's weight poses a real health risk. Obesity becomes "morbid" when it significantly increases the risk of one or more obesity-related health conditions or serious diseases (also known as co-morbidities). Morbid obesity—sometimes called "clinically severe obesity"—is defined as being 100 lbs. or more over ideal body weight or having a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or higher.
According to the NIH Consensus Report, morbid obesity is a serious chronic disease, meaning that its symptoms build slowly over an extended period of time. Today 97 million Americans, more than one-third of the adult population, are overweight or obese. An estimated 5-10 million of those are considered morbidly obese
