Fulmer Debate II

Because he was coach for most of the 90s and 2000s. I was showing that prior to him, what he did was the norm. But fine. 90s had season with 4+ losses and the 00s had 6 under Fulmer.

And the records show he was back on par with Majors, Dickey, etc etc.

Honest hypothetical question for you: IF Butch Jones goes 4-8 this season and the board fires him and brings Fulmer back, are you happy about it?

Of course, there is no way we would fire Butch Jones after this season, but I am wondering about your answer since you seem to be clamoring so hard to the notion that Fulmer should still be our coach

I don't know that Fulmer is on par with Dickey. Dickey's body of work at UT is a fairly small sample size but if you factor in the loaded team he left Battle, I can't honestly put him on par with Dickey.

In a way, with the huge exception that his career at UT was much longer, Fulmer's time shares some commonality with Battle's. Both were left loaded cupboards and continued to win big at the outset of their careers. One difference is that Fulmer went through another recruiting cycle that brought in players that won a national championship.

Who was more important to the success of their HC? Fulmer as Majors' no.1 or Cutcliffe as Fulmer's no. 1?

Did Fulmer ever win a SEC title without Cutcliffe as OC?
Did Majors ever win a SEC title without Fulmer as OC?

The answers are no and yes

Considering Majors' only outright title came with Fulmer, he tied with Fulmer, and then won only because Florida was on probation, I'd say both were equally as valuable.

As I've already said in this thread, I'm not advocating for him to be rehired. Do I think he never should've been let go? Yes. Would I support him if he was rehired? Absolutely, but I also know it'd be a long shot and having been 5 years, I don't think it'll happen. Nor am I begging for it to happen.

Aren't you going to answer the other question? Or are you worried your answer will further damage your credibility as a real and informed fan of the University.

I know he didn't, but he was in the championship game twice without him. I've said before, a head coach is only as good as his coordinators. Fulmer was just smart enough to hire Cut and Chavis.

That's all I wanted to know. Thanks!

Majors hired Cutcliffe. He was QB coach and passing game coordinator during the 89,90,91 and 92 seasons

We're a top ten historical program. We're supposed to compete for national championships, not hope we get into the SEC title game. We haven't been a national title contender since 2001? We haven't played in a BCS bowl since 1999...that's national irrelevance .

Face it, we slid into mediocrity during the 2002-2008 span.

AND yes, cc., firing Fulmer and the subsequent hires are mutually exclusive events

We fired Fulmer. The rest is what it is but happened because Fulmer was fired. There's no way to deny that without looking like a bigger idiot. Not that that's possible.

Lol what an idiot. We fired Fulmer. The rest is what it is but happened because Fulmer was fired. There's no way to deny that without looking like a bigger idiot. Not that that's possible.

So Alabama has had the success they've had the past few years because they fired Shula right? Not because they hired Nick Saban?

Sorry community college, had to quote it again

One, because its funny. Two, because you keep calling people moron and idiot.

Anybody that called for Fulmer's head is an idiot in hindsight or otherwise. The man got a cool 6 mil for nothing & got to laugh at morons like you who got what they asked for. But you're cool because you drive a golf ball 350 yards in the air with a smooth, keep it in the fairway swing. LOL

Let's say your wife is cheating on you. So you divorce her and marry a different woman. This one drains your bank account, steals your car, and runs off with another man. Which was the mistake: divorcing your cheating wife to begin with, or marrying an even worse one after that?

The entire world of D1 football programs are obviously idiots because nobody wants him.

I didn't read past the first couple words FYI

It's more of your wife stopped going down on you, so you left her for someone that said she would, but then you end up catching herpes.
