Fulmer Debate II

if that's all true, than any coach just shows up at alabama and wins big, by cheating, paying players, paying high school coaches, etc. it's not that simple: bill curry couldn't win consistently, david shula could never win big, the list goes on. Only Bear, Stallings and Saban have won titles in the last 50 years at alabama.

No it still takes a good coach to put it together.....all their crap and even their farm HS team in Knoxville didn't stop Neyland from whipping them.....It does give them an edge though.....they have always played semi dirty pool on recruitment.

Dooley was made AD. I think Fulmer should have the chance to be AD asap and out with Hart, the outsider. Dooley's coaching contributions to his school vs Fulmer pails. Both won n/c yet Fulmer had a better over all record.

Serious?

I don't understand how anyone claiming to be a Vol could dislike Phil Fulmer. The only folks that are very vocal about hating CPF are Bama fans.

I don't think it's dislike personally but more of where the program fell under his leadership.

THE PROGRAM DIDN'T FAIL UNDER FULMER, THE FANS FAILED!

If Fulmer, was still coach every hater out there knows deep in their inbred heart that Tennessee, would have been at the very least a top 20 team and represented the East in the SEC.

Nailed it

All you Fulmer haters gotta admit though, that its pretty impressive how well he's doing with his current football program. I mean, everyone thought that they were crazy for hiring him, "the game has passed him by," "he's too complacent," blah, blah, blah, blah.

Who's laughing now? He'll probably win his conference this season. That that negavols!

Bet you still want him back huh.

We would be in much better shape having never fired Fulmer until hiring Butch. Even Fulmer haters have to admit the program would have at least had some stability and we would have never gone through attrition and recruiting violations. Our last winning record was with Fulmers players.

Who's laughing now? Every other college football fanbase and program in the country and they have been for several years now.

The last of Fulmer/Cheifs recruits gave Bama all they could handle. Damn you Lincoln!

Lets just be honest right now, Fulmer would have fired Clawson and we would be competing for the east right now. We all know it. Having said that get it done Butch.

Nope...lost his recruiting base, this was before Clawson.

Did he lose it just that year, cause I could swear I was in the Georgia dome, watching TN come within a eyelash of beating the national champion LSU Tigers the year before.

He had the second best recruiting class in the country in 2007 and 2009 was looking really good. It's true that 2008 was bad...by far the worst of his career, but I think it was probably a one off. It might be nice to see how he would have actually finished 2009, and 2010...and....
