Fulmer Debate II

Ok.. inheriting=one year removed from back to back SEC Championships, talented recruits such as Cobb, Webb, Carter, Pickens etc...., high winning percentage, marquee wins such as ND in 91'.. The program was already established in every facet. Fulmer was handed the keys to a Porche n told just change the oil and plugsad he did-for a while then stopped and the program wnt down!

Yeah, I'm sure Fulmer had no hand in landing those big names. And if you complain about Fulmer backing into the SECCG in 2007, you have to say Majors backed into his because of Florida's probation and the tie with Bama.

Here is the point of emphasis to the whole Fulmer saga. Everyone except you Fulmerites see whaf he really was as a coach. Even Zook got another coaching gig after he left Fla! But nobody wanted Fulmer! Why is that? If he was all that of a coach why did nobody want him as their coach and when he sent inquests he was rebuffed!

The point of emphasis is that the greatest run the Vols had in most people's lifetime that posts on here is when Fulmer was coach. Only a moron would think we would be in worse shape if he had stayed but the morons would still complain about 8-4 & 10 win seasons & competing for SEC championships.

:lolabove: . Fulmer was OC for Majors best years (sans 84). No argument. Fulmer's offense set UT records. No argument. Fulmer has top ten SEC coaching numbers. No argument. 15 years of 8 or more wins is not running a program into the ground. No argument. 150 wins & 100 more wins than losses, which is something only a handful of coaches in D-1 history have done. No argument. Only National Title in four decades. The first rounders and overall draft picks are far to numerous to name. No argument. Fulmer Haters really have "no argument". You can just say he should have won more. So could everyone else.

You Fulmerites have good and valid points but you're giving him too much credit! It's not like he took the UT program from where it is now to glory! That work was already done before he took over! Just like Larry Coker too over for Butch Davis with the exception he it took Fulmer longer to destroy it!

What is too much credit? Hall of Fame. National Champion. That's enough for any coach.

I have no idea what the first part means.

Again; when CPF took over on an interim basis, the team was losing. He righted the ship and they started winning. When CJM returned, they started losing again. Explain how this is giving him too much credit?

You say this like Fulmer wasn't on the staff to help build the team he inherited.

When he took over on that interim basis they hadn't even played a game. In fact no college game had been played that yearr! So, they weren't loosing. The too much credit part comes from him taking over a program-not building it!
