Fulmer Debate II

Who's to say Boyd would have been what he is now had Fulmer stayed and he played here? What about that freshman class of RB's in 01? They all became huge dissapointments and we were reminded of that which Williams and Brown when we faced off agains Auburn!

Who is to say Fulmer deserved to be fired? That game can be played all day.

You forgot those years we (tied) for the SEC East. I'm sorry but a typical "9" win season just isn't going to cut it when you're getting blown out by your rivals and playing 13-14 games a season. That's almost like being content with a 6-7 win season with a 10 game schedule like years ago. Never mind the backdooring into two SECCG.

Typical nine wins? Who is that typical for?
And the rules for making the SEC title game are clear. We qualified. We went. Why try to downplay a good accomplishment?

That is very true as well. Looking back now, those 10-3, 11-2, 9-4, 8-5 seasons don't seem so mediocre or bad now. I'd love to see a 8-5 season again.

^^^THIS^^^

In 2005 and 2008, we was all like, "Fulmer can't get it done! He can't recruit no more! The game past him bye!"

I'd give anything to have Fulmer, Tajh Boyd, 5-6 and 5-7 seasons right now!!!!!

So butch is going to have a 5-7 or 6-6 year....so he's only allowed one more bad year right?

That's all fulmer got....

So if he goes anything less then 8-5 next year, he should be fired....right?

If he goes 5-6 and 5-7 in two of four years, then yes.

How many chances was Kiffen afforded at USC?

Mack Brown is on the hot-seat with one losing season, having already won his 7th game of the 2013 season.

This year, Butch Jones will match a Cutcliffe-less Fulmer's results while having to overcome the obstacles Fulmer and Hamilton left behind.

You mean 152-52, NC, or inducted into the HOF? Are those the "obstacles" that trouble you?

Mack Brown won a national championship at Texas and is performing much better than Fulmer in the '08 season. Is Texas wrong for planning for their future?

Was Auburn wrong for firing Chizik, because he won a national championship?

Should we have let Fulmer continue to lose to Vandy and Wyoming at home, field 5 win teams without Cutcliffe and run the program further into the ground, because he accomplished something a decade before?

Look at the team he left Kiffen. With the exception of Eric Berry, it was devoid of talent. It was and is a complete rebuilding job, because of Fulmer's job performance in his final years.

One can complain about the past few years, but the on the field results are on par with Fulmer's last years, with two sub .500 seasons in 4 years, especially when Cutcliffe wasn't here to bail him out.

Well, he left another 1st round draft pick in addition to EB. Along with four other draft picks. There were a couple of others who made the league. Kiffin ran off 2 additional NFL QBs from the roster among other future NFL'ers. Furthermore, we had at least one consensus 1st team All-SEC performer (a walk-on).

And I thought the Sullin Brothers punched above their weight.

You can say what you want but Butch would be in a much better position if Fulmer would have never been fired. Kiffin intentionally screwed us over and Dooley was just too ignorant to be a HC. Hamilton made a stupid knee jerk reaction and fired Fulmer. In the process, he created 5 of the worst years in UT history. Because of that firing we are still rebuilding.

Continue to lose to Vandy? He lost to Vandy ONE time in 16 seasons. Also that ONE loss was in 2005 and he beat them 3 straight times after that. Where do you get your ridiculous info from?

Fulmer left Kiffin with no talent? Yeah right. Did he leave him with top level talent? Maybe not but it wasn't as terrible as you make it sound like. If you want to compare coaching talent between Fulmer and Kiffin, Fulmer is easily 10x the ouch Kiffin ever was or ever will be. A USC he had TONS of talent and basically did nothing in the PAC 12.

This is a pathetic attempt at a Fulmer hate post.

You mean by using the "program" he inherited and then running it into the ground?

No. I mean winning and bringing UT into the national spotlight.

Correct me if I am wrong. When he briefly replaced Majors, they won. When Majors returned, they started losing again. You were talking about "inheriting".

Making horrible hires does not make Fulmer a better coach. Hindsight is 20/20. Who knew Hammy could be that incompetent. Saying Fulmer vs. Kiffin/Dooley is really a false dichotomy.
I still remember all the Vol fans saying Meyer's offense wouldn't fly in the SEC.

No realistic coaching option was better than Fulmer. Hammy just wanted to have a coach who was 180 degrees different.

Fulmer still ain't got no job. I guess you Fulmorons are an extreme
minority
.

An extreme minority would be a coach getting two teams two the BCS title game. So far just Saban. Meyer could this year.

Another "extreme minority" would be Tennessee coaches with a National Title.

Another extreme minority would be a post where you actually made a point. You mostly hurl insults, especially in the Fulmer threads.

What's not an extreme minority, coaches who ran UT football into the ground. Bill Battle, Phil Fulmer, Lane Kiffin, Derk Dooley.

Dude, We were already in the spotlight and already recruiting major talent before Fulmer became HC! All Fulmdr did was take over a successful program that was already establishished!
