Fulmer Debate II

Am I to believe that you think breaking General Neyland's record would not have been beneficial to the football program?:shakehead:

Haven't studied The Calculus in many years, but as I recall 1=1

I don't see how Fulmer holding the record OVER Neyland BENEFITS the program...unless his wins count more, for some reason :hi:

its called publicity, junior. Fans talk about it, media talks about it, recruits hear it and want to play for someone that has accomplished it

Oh yeah, I was around then! Around for all those years he couldn't beat Spurrier, around when he was the top dog in a weak SEC conference and was around when he was running the program in the ground and getting blown out by very weak ACC teams in bowl games. All you Fulmerites push him up because everyone was down well if he was that good why didn't he win more NCs? The 99 team was essentially the same as the 98! And those other "great" teams ofthe 90? Yeah, I'm proud of the 98 NC but lets not forget it wasn't a blow out and it was against the 3rd string QB after-all!

How old are you and have you achieved anything? This will give me a perspective on whom I'm debating with.

Actually, yes it did. It made PSU more prevalent nationally than the should have been. Thanks for helping me prove my point.

You'll understand more once you get your GED

You're so old...and lame...that you think you have a point...once you gave me that pandering "junior" moniker, you conceded that I'm younger and hipper...turn your hearing aid up so you can hear this...RECRUITS COULD GIVE A RAT'S ASS IF THEIR COACH IS THE ALL TIME WINNER AT THEIR SCHOOL...now after your nap and bowel movement we'll break the shocking news that Coach Paterno...in his relentless, blind pursuit of a number, lost his soul...then his job...then his life...good trade huh Methuselah? We won't even go over your brainless GED comment out of respect for your encroaching senility :hi:

Fulmer didn't win any games. Cutcliffe and Chavis did, with Majors recruits. Pay attention, CPF was 0-52.

Wow, you are Vol fan? Show CPF respect or just be quiet.
You do understand that a good or great coach....HIRES great assistants. right? CPF is all VOL, gave his life to winning games for UT...then jerks like us debate whether or not was a great coach. CPF was 0-52? turn in your vol card at the door please

Does your question have any relevance?

Yes. I haven't looked but I'm willing to bet it took less than 17 years! Saying that, the rate of deteriation of the program under CPF the last few years would have made it another 16 ears before he matched NEYLAND!

1926 to 1952.......You can count that as another fact to compare to your subjective opinion.

Oh and UT played in 7 bowl games under General Neyland, 5 of which were a loss.

There really is no debate but I'll provide the info. 46 and my accomplishment is I just sold one of my construction companies for a mega sum. I'm also a UT grad!

I think you Fulmerites want to make him out as this great coach that was done wrong but neither is the case. He wasn't and is not in the same league as Neyland, Paterno, Bowden, Bryant etc. They actually built programs into successful powerhouses and that is why they are respected. All CPF did was take over the reins of a successful team with a solid foundation. To make even more of a point, how was that foundation when he finally departed? And, better yet, why was he fired in the first place? It wasn't because he was winning!

Anti fulmerite! Yes we were decent when he took over. Yes we went down at the end of his tenure. It was the in between that made him great

That team that he took over was so successful that they fired the existing coach.
