Fulmer is still the best name.

Could we please rid the forum of garbage like this????

During the game today they had a list of possible coaching hires. I saw the great pumpkins name on there and nearly choked to death laughing.

Not sure I could continue to be a life long UT fan if that happened.

Then you are not much of a Vol anyway. Dooley was exponentially worse than Fulmer. Are you still a Vol fan?

And Fulmer could not possibly be that bad. When people post stuff like this I have to question a lot of things about them. Like for one, how the only coach to win a title here in six decades coming here to coach again could make you not be a Vol anymore. That is confounding to say the least. Guess those two losing seasons in 17 years really exposed some of our fairweather fans. Best thing the Great Pumpkin ever did imo.

He has everything we need to get the program back to being competitive and implementing a coaching search, and subsequent transition, upon his retirement.

He had his chance. He helped us get in the shape we have been the last 5 or 6 years. No do not hire him.

Fulmer averaged nearly 5 losses per year during his final 5 year stretch! Some of you think that will lead ut back to the top???? Smdh

Do I think he would lead us back to the top? Nope. Do I think he would be better than some of the names being prominently thrown around now? Yes.

Gruden, Stoops, Mora> Fulmer

Strong, Fisher> Fulmer

Davis, Belloti, Tubbs = Fulmer

Fulmer> Mullen, Smart, Golden, Fedora,

It's quite telling that he's not had a job since getting canned.

He is on the bench though...

Why would you give up 125K and getting to see your first grand kid 24/7? For one reason and one reason only. That is if a school who is setup and not deemed a rebuilding job becomes available. There hasn't.

Semantics. Argue the records. Oh right.......

Except it's not semantics.

Snyder retired. As in HE decided not to coach anymore. He did not pursue any other jobs after he left KSU.

Fulmer was fired. As in it was NOT his decision to leave UT. Fulmer has been pursuing other jobs.

You want to call that "semantics", go ahead. All you'll be accomplishing is showing you don't know what "semantics" mean.

The only job he really pursued was USF and that was only because he is around St. Pete a lot. Anyone who says other schools really intrigued him and he pushed and pursued them, I'm calling Bull sh!t.

He pursued Louisville. That's not bull.

He did not pursue and push for Louisville. If I remember correctly the AD is a good friend of his and there was casual conversations. Never an interview at all

Choose to believe what you want; several reliable sources stated he interviewed for the job.
