Fulmer is still the best name.

Interesting topic. I will put this out there and you can flame away. I am not going to take sides only telling you what I know. Some of high power boosters in the Cleveland/Chatt area want him back. They believe the time away has thought him and reignited the fire in him. He has not moved on to other jobs due to the thought after the UK game last year we may be in this position. Now 2 facts I am not going to wavier on.

1. He and Hart had dinner not long ago
2. His hat is in the ring

I can not say this as fact but my understanding is Chief would return with him.

I will discuss pros and cons but I am not going to have a childish name calling contest because people use him as a punching bag.

Hart could announce Fulmer as new HC today and I would be 100% fine with it. I would fully expect 8-9 wins next year and a solid bowl game. He would be a value hire at 2.5 million and would jump start our recruiting. His record would have his resume as good or better than any option we have. I get the "he got lazy" stuff. After 17 years, people get burned out no matter what they are doing. at the very least I think Hart would be wise to have a sit down and discuss it with Phil. Ask him who he would have on staff. See if he has the fire and thinks he can fix this program. Who knows, Fulmer could tell Hart he does not think he could get it done and we move on. Phil Fulmer checked every box in Dave Harts "things he wants in a HC".

and people say the gruden talk was delusional.

I would absolutely support Fulmer, especially if we are seriously considering some of these losers I have been seeing on these boards.

Never gonna happen nor should it. Not hating just stating the obvious.

Does the 07 SEC championship game count as last few years or in fact the 04...our goal is to win the SEC every year, but the East is way better then what we are at now. You cannot win it, if you do not get there.

At least I could say I got pissed when they played bad when he was the coach, because I had expectations. No feeling after Gator game this year.

Lawd how mercy. You must be 16 and think you know everything and in truth dont know jack.

For many of the Fulmer years the SEC was a FL - TN battle. Whichever won the east would win the SEC. It was TN - FL then everyone else.

look at 2005 , preseason top 5 , we win 5 games.

look at 2007, yes TN won the east by a freak.of nature. Check the score of the TN blowout loses.

2008 another 5 win season with that amazing lose to the powerful WYOMING team.

I work for myself, I have had periods when sales were way up and I thought I had finally made it. I thought my circle of business and reputation could keep my numbers high and I could enjoy it while it was rolling. The next year my numbers where down and I realized that you ha e to keep doing what got you there. If you are not growing your business you are killing it. I canot help but think that Phil fulmer feels this way since his firing. I imagine he wants nothing more than to prove the nation wrong. As an adult we all get complacent but a little humble pie can go a long ways....with a great staff I would rather have Phil than a midteir Strong, Fedora, ect...if we can't get a rock star we should get a solid rock. Just my opinion.

for waht its worth Fulmer would be better hire than Petrino, Strong, and a few other names I saw. Fulmer had way over hundreds of wins with very limited losses Fulmer was just too conservetive and liked playing that three point lead too much. BUT I have no issue's with bringing Fulmer back, as long as we get a OC, and a DC that are proven and recruiting is solid.

Man you Fulmer supporters are un ****ing believable. Snow balls chance in hell this will happen. I guarantee y'all are all eligible for Medicare. That's the only logical explanation. Jon Gruden has a better chance of parachutting into the Georgia Dome durring the SEC Championship game in orange and white checkerboard overalls than we have hiring Phillip damn Fulmer.

I am 35 years old and have a wife and four kids. Because I disagree with facts that makes me 16...look Fulmer had some bad years, I think he will have the fire again...so can we set the personal stuff aside.

Instead of making another thread about an average at best washed up coach, just write fulmer a love letter an get your closure. It will make you feel better while sparing the rest of us.

I think we can agree firing Fulmer was a huge mistake. Because I guarantee the man would have won again, he is a competitive person. We have since then.

1. A talker that can have flashes.
2. A excuse maker.

I am not saying Fulmer should be hired, but if he was I guarantee he would get Chavis and he would be smart enough to bring a up and comer fo offense, "might" keep Chaney and I know he would keep Pitman and Graham and probably Hinshaw. A lot of peope rip Chavis recruiting, but he used to get high school running backs and beef them up as linebackers and it worked. If Fulmer comes back, which I say is as 10 percent chance, I have more faith in him winning. You know what with some motivation he could beat Saban in a few years and we know he can beat Richt. 50, 50 every year on that game.

All that being said are you better off then you were 4 years ago? HN, Fulmer had a bad season, but enough of this bull, we know that 2009 and on would have been winning seasons. 152-52

I have a lot of motivation too but I don't think I could out coach Saban.

I know I had spelling errors due to type on this little phone but I must say your vocabulary is impeccable.

Don't disagree but if the Gruden thing is finally dead (which it is not). I would not look past this. I had a very long discussion last night with some people and they made some good points. If we step away from the emotion of the 08 debacle and look at it objectively it could set things on the right path for the future. Regardless of who we get we are not going to content for a couple of years. Are you the same guy that was hanging out with Jake in CO.?

Philip Fulmer is in such high demand that football powerhouses such as Kansas and Kentucky went in other directions. The guy didn't do anything his last decade here unless Cutcliffe was around.

He almost tripled his wins over Alabama then lost, did you forget that. Dooley must have been creaming over your vision.

And I backed him fully until he started losing to Alabama. He's not going to beat them or Saban these days, as he has fully demonstrated.

And don't give me the "if it's better than Dooley, it must be good" argument. That stance is for losers (and yet, it seems to be a hallmark of Fulmerite logic. interesting.)

Don't know about you but I would like to see old Jon bust through the roof in the Dome wearing those overalls. Lol these blue hairs need to let ole Phil enjoy that 6 mil.

Firing Fulmer was NOT a mistake. How he was fired, when he was fired, and who he was fired by, was a mistake. I know from people who have worked under the the last three HCs that Fulmer had let the program slide in so many ways. Lots of issues beyond just wins and losses. The hiring of Hamilton was the biggest mistake. Fulmer is the alpha point on the current state of the program. The worst 5 year period of UT football since 1909 starts with Fulmer's 5-7 debacle. Saldy, the fate of the program was in the hiring decision made by Hamilton. When you think of the what ifs regarding who UT could have hired it is more than depressing.
Look at Alabama. How in the world did they end up with Mike Price, as a choice? How does LSU go 20 years with coaches like Denardo and Hallman? And keep in mind that before Bama got Saban they had already hired Rich Rod, when he had a change of heart and stayed at WV. It wasn't till then that the Bama folks ponied up the $$ to get Saban.

My honest assesment is that UT will not make a good hire. The candidates just don't seem legit. Stoops leave OU? Aint happening. Do you think Fisher will actually leave the fertile recruiting grounds of Florida? No. Doesn't appear that Patterson, or Peterson are cultural fits, and don't seem to be persuaded by big money.
UT will get out of the cellar, but the next coach will not last more than 5 years.
UT missed the right hire 5 years ago. Kiffin was wrong for so many reasons. But, the big setback was the worst possible timing, and I don't think even Hamilton hires Dooley if the timing wasn't what it was.

Yes sir, Jake is a good man

If I hear that stupid crap again, I am going to puke. He lost to Wyoming, because he just got fired by the University that he gave money, blood, and sweat too...so guess what he would not have lost if he was not fired. Can we just recognize that? Both Vandy and UK were better then UK that year...at TN easily beat them. Should have just fired Clawson.

First off your ignorant as hell if you think he was fired pre-Wyoming...
