Fulmer is still the best name.

Yeah, I agree with most of the people on this thread. We need Fulmer back. Let's bite the bullet and get him back in here.

Fulmer is putting a staff together. Randy Sander's neighbor said that he turned the KY job down as he was assembling a staff for more lucrative offer. TIFWIW

Funny UK only offered the job to 1 person and he took it.

Yeah we need Fulmer back the Police in Knoxville are bored.

That's sad, that dude had 2 losing seasons in like 15 years, and he was fired. I didn't realize that. In 2007 UT was 10-4. They Lost to

Alabama
#3 Florida,
#5 LSU
#12 Cal,

They beat

# 15 South Carolina
# 12 Georgia
#18 Wisconsin

And 7 other teams, including an appearance in the SECCG, and a bowl win.

Wow. What a sh**y season.

This from a Forum where they are making fun of us for firing Fulmer. It's an All SEC site. This is why we're the laughing stock of the college football.

Thank God Georgia is smarter than us and will keep Richt. If it was our fan base they would be talking about running him out of town for not winning.

No one is going to unite this fan base till we get back to winning.

You don't think the fan base would be united immediately IF Hart could walk up to the podium and say I would like to introduce to you the next University of Tennessee head football coach, Jon Gruden?

The right right would unite the fan base.
Hiring Fulmer would cause more division.

I think if we offer and or can't make a deal with Patterson, Gundy(4-5 million), or Petrino, I would consider Fulmer as a very good option along with Fedora, Davis, Jones, and Fisher.

I think Petrino would be the best value in the 2.5 million a year club with Fedora, Fulmer, Davis, and Jones.

Fisher would be in the neighborhood of 3.5-4 million. I think he has the least value IMO. I see Fulmer at twice the price when I look at Jimbo.

Charlie Strong will be an option. I just can't see his resume as being good enough to throw 3 million plus a year at him. I think UL will match anything to 3 mil or more.

If we get down to the 2.5 million dollar group, I would be fine with a Fulmer hire. I think he would bring some stability and some pride back to Tennesseee.

When people are having to rationalize hiring a "hof coach" against guys that haven't won as much, it should be obvious what the problem is.

So we are more worried of the fan division than the future of our program? Not saying Fulmer will be the answer but some of the names being brought up scare the hell out of me. He is a better choice than half of the names being thrown out.

Yes I believe people would get behind Gruden. Out of all the coaches being mentioned he would unite the fan base the most. However not saying he wouldn't win, but how many loses would it take before our unrealistic fan base turned on him. The Gruden experiment only woks if he wins. When I say win I mean win Championships. Competitive is not good enough with this fan base.

If we can get Gruden I've said bring him on.

But when people are throwing names like Jimbo, Smart, Petrino, Strong, Golden and a few others. Do you believe any of them will unite this fan base, I don't thinks so.

So the way I see it if we can not get Gruden, Patterson or Peterson I say bring in Fulmer. The last poll I saw on Fulmer was Divided 53 to 47. Almost dead even.

Now if we CAN NOT get Gruden is their anyone on the list that you think would unite the fan base again?

Hart should offer Gary Patterson 4.6 million dollars a year for 6 years. He should offer Mike Gundy 4.6 million dollars a year for 6 years. He should offer Bobby Petrino 2.5 million dollars for 5 years(I know this is a reach) and he should offer Phil Fulmer 2.5 million a year for 5 years.

1st one to say Yes, gets the job. That would be what I would do before I got into Charlie Strong, Larry Fedora, Butch Davis, Al Golden, or Butch Jones. All these options would be 2.5 a year for 5 years IMO.

I think Fulmer back would be very good for UT and stability. There would be a sense of pride again IMO. Recruiting would see a boost for sure.

Note on Gundy: I noticed on their website people were ticked off about Gundy interviewing for other jobs and they blame Sexton. Apparently Gundy recently switched agents and went with Sexton. Fans seem sure that if Gundy were to leave, OSU would try to make Bill Young( his DC) or Todd Monken(OC) new HC. I would be fine with Young staying behind. IF Monken was to not come along, I am not sure Gundy is as attractive a hire.

This is freakin pathetic. Bring back Fulmer? Jesus, Mary, and Joseph......are you serious? Let the man be what he is.....a great piece of TN history. He is now beloved by most fans for what he accomplished, but being the HC would ruin that image of him again. He is a hall of fame coach, and deserves to be. But don't you all remember how we all hated losing the BIG GAME EVERY YEAR? Heck if u want to lay blame for our expectations, you can blame Fulmer. He built a great tradition here, but it was obvious that he lost control of many players....or recruited too many thugs- either way. Lets admire him as a part of our storied past and lean on his help to find someone to get us thru the next decade.

Last 4 years aren't his fault. Forgot he was responsible for all the losses we endured with Kiff and Dools.

Im just saying lets give him enough respect to not put him thru the ringer again with coaching. He is absolutely a VFL and is very appreciated now as opposed to when he was coaching. He would be my top choice to replace Dave Hart.....but not D Dooley. Just my opinion tho and thats not much.

If it's Gundy give me Fulmer back.

2010 Oklahoma State 11–2
2011 Oklahoma State 12–1
2012 Oklahoma State 7-5

and going back to 2005

2) 9-6 seasons
2) 7-6 seasons
1) 4-7 season

As for Petrino he just got ranked number 1 on the list of who you do not want. A big NO on him. We really don't need the story to know this guy would not do good on the recruiting trail, but though I would add it in.

"While some would argue that personal issues should remain personal issues, part of the job of a football coach is to help his team develop some character.

Character and discipline helps win games, and it also helps young men succeed in life after football."

I didn't say this before bc I was intrigued by some of the coaches on the early list - as they may not be an option anymore - I feel like speaking my heart on this (yes I give my all for Tennessee). I would like to petition for a Fulmer rehire. (Hear me out) - with the names that appear left on our list - none are better than Fulmer. I've heard Fulmer is past his prime - BS- he didn't wake up one day and forgot how to coach. I get that without Chavis and Cut he wouldn't have been as successful - but if a head coaches job includes hiring great coordinators then except for Clawson he did that. Recruiting - name someone better. Ok - now fire away

Fulmer would get my vote.

The man did a great job at UT, especially during the mid 90s; however the SEC passed him by and Fulmer was not able to keep up with the changes. It was evident with the 2008 season when lowly Wyoming came into Neyland and pulled off the upset for the ages. I think Phil knows that he may have lost a step in the recruiting business.
