Fulmer is still the best name.

You also fired your coach during mid season without a competent replacement. Kiffen also ran off the QB who just won an award as the best QB in the ACC. What did you expect. The same thing we are going through now. Recruits waiting to see who is hired.

And remember he had the #5 recruiting class in 2007.
It's up to the coaches to coach them up. He gave us talent. Blame the coaches who didn't develop them. Kiffen and Dooley had the job of developing them. Sorry

Actually, when Phil fired Randy, Phil took over play calling and was fairly good.

I didn't fire anyone. I was in med school when Fulmer was canned. My input wasn't solicited

In guessing if you narrowed your comparison to Fulmers last 3 years at UT vs Richt's last 3 years, you'd know how I felt. Picking 6-7 year stretches really dilutes the problems at the end out. Fulmer wasn't let go for what happened from 2001-2007. He was let go for what happened his final couple years.

i agree. when u have worked sumwhere for that long u get comfortable, and cut corners.then it startes to show

I didn't say this before bc I was intrigued by some of the coaches on the early list - as they may not be an option anymore - I feel like speaking my heart on this (yes I give my all for Tennessee). I would like to petition for a Fulmer rehire. (Hear me out) - with the names that appear left on our list - none are better than Fulmer. I've heard Fulmer is past his prime - BS- he didn't wake up one day and forgot how to coach. I get that without Chavis and Cut he wouldn't have been as successful - but if a head coaches job includes hiring great coordinators then except for Clawson he did that. Recruiting - name someone better. Ok - now fire away

You can't cure stupidity, People around here will blast CPF till the day they die.. why? I have no idea when every bit of factual data we have says he is a proven winner with a fantastic reputation in recruiting.. Hall of fame etc.. The Man responsible for setting the bar so high.

And yet, the people on this message board do nothing but attack the guy every chance they get.

Look at the past 4 years, Phulmer never had a season as bad as any of them.

Yet we still get told his firing was the right thing..

Don't agree with that part. Bar was already set.

So to the Richt comparison: fulmer lost 15 games in his final 3 seasons. How many Richt seasons do we have to go back to find 15 loses?

Well if your going off three seasons this guy should have been fired right?

Won the SEC and the next 3 yrs looked like this.

5-5 9th in the SEC
4-4-2 8th in the SEC
7-2 3rd in the SEC

Would you fire him? And for the record they were protesting at this for his removal.

richt....was not the subject. fulmer was. the reason i spoke up was from reading ppl call him everything but a bologna tit barrel a**...and that he was the worst coach in all of exsistence. also JMO

I've posted this before and no one will answer it: Fulmer coached his team through 24 losses in his final 5 years! That averages almot 5 losses per year! Do you people truly believe he can lead this team back to prominence? I would bet that he would lose many more than that if given another 5 year stretch.

...and that he was the worst coach in all of exsistence. also JMO

No one has said anything even remotely close to this. People are just saying they don't want him back because he hasn't won a thing since 1999. (And others are saying he would magically win SEC titles over Saban/Miles/Spurrier/Muschamp, etc.)

You are correct, but does not change the out come. What did you expect? A top 10 recruiting class after firing a coach during mid season. I believe that would unrealistic at any school.

Explain? I mean what area could he possibly be better in?

Arm strength is a really obvious one, but their respective performances against South Carolina should tell you all you need to know. At best, Boyd is Colt McCoy Jr.; Bray is much, much more talented.

So arm strength determines the better QB? I guess Al Davis was right when drafting Jamarcus. He had a real Tom Brady.

I think Boyd's arm isn't as strong, but Boyd makes up with it on his smarts and he isn't a whiny b!tch and doesn't give up. He has better footwork than Bray. Boyd also is better pre-play adjustment QB

Me too.. My point was 90% of the people here are to emotional about Fulmer. If stop and look at Richt they have very similar records. It was just for a comparison so people might take a second look at think about what they're saying.

I've said it before I want the best coach.

Fulmer is A HOF coach who brought us our first NC since 51' and I was blessed enough to sit in the stands and witness it. As of now he is #2 in wins behind Neyland. The man deserves more respect from this fan base.

Arm strength, accuracy, and height are pretty much the only aspects of QB you can't coach, and Bray is better at all three than Boyd.

Again, if you think Tajh Boyd is going to be a starting NFL QB because he can put up numbers against bad defenses in a gimmick system, you're going to be sorely disappointed in a year or two.

The freakin' idiots in our fan base are beyond human comprehension !!!

Do people not even remember that this whole slide into the abyss was started by that fat bloated tub of lard with the way over inflated ego !!!

For cryin out loud !!! The reason we got to such awful shape talent wise under Kiffin and Dooley is because Clappy McFatass recruited like garbage his last few years.

Do people not remember that this lazy sack of s--t had two losing seasons in his last 4 and lost to freakin' Wyoming ? !!!

what does that sound like...sweet nothings? thats what i read

We all know he wasn't as good of a coach his last 4 or 5 years, but if you look at his 17 year coaching record you would change your mind if you see the numbers.151 wins and 52 losses. .743 winning percentage.!5 bowl appearances with 8 wins and 7 losses. I was a supporter of letting Fulmer go after his last terrible season but the grass definately isn't greener on the other side. After this crap we have seen on Saturdays that is called Vol football,i was wishing for some of Fulmers "Mediocre" 8 and 4 seasons.Yes,Fulmer did get complacent and maybe slacked a bit in recruiting but it doesn't take a genius to realize how much better we would have been as Vol fan and to never have the Kiffen saga and Dooley fiasko to go through.I really hate being the laughing stock of the SEC.I think now, with givin the right time to hire a competent OC,Fulmer would have gotten Tennessee back to the top.He gave his all for TN and was rewarded handsomely,i think he realizes his faults and shrtcomings his last few years and will be come out swinging if givin the chance to coach his Vols again.Think about it and say it outloud if you still dont understand....151 wins....52 losses,.......2 losing seasons in 17 years,...oh,...and we still beat Vandy and Kentucky like Tennessee is supposed to.I am really not happy with any of the current coaches available,...except Gruden, and we know that aint happening.I think Fulmer, with something to prove and a renewed vengeance, can come in get us back to respectability again,...but that is jmo

Uh Bray isn't that accurate. If you think Bray is gonna be an NFL QB because of his height and rocket arm and his indecisiveness and his quitting mentality and whiny attitude, you need a head check.

Plus, I never said anything about the League anyway.

These things are facts. They're why we fired Fulmer. But people seem to ignore them, and that leads to this:

The freakin' idiots in our fan base are beyond human comprehension !!!

Which is pretty well justified when you're talking about bringing back a coach that we fired.
