Fulmer is still the best name.

Lets hire the Legend back before we turn our program over to another unproven nobody! If we get turned down by Strong we are getting close to Hart being left with few choices. Hire Gruden or Fulmer!

If I was Hart I would seriously consider it. If we fall below the floor of the first Tier of coaching candidates, and Strong is near the bottom of that tier (I would love for him to be the coach btw), then Hart's job rests on the success of the next coach.

If you are Hart you have a choice, hire a Davis, Petrino, or otherwise who are as much of a moral hazard as a success hazard or do you go with Fulmer who you know would never do anything to hurt the university and hope that he could assemble a great staff and redeem himself?

I will weep if we hire Fulmer back.

It's not that I dislike the guy, but just think about that for a minute.....our only viable option other than another Dooley is to offer it back to the guy we fired 4 years ago? Is this program really that tough to sell? Think about how many had to turn us down to get there.

And I have no confidence he's going to get us back to the top.

It has been embarassing, and I guess at that point we'll go full embarrassment and go back to Fulmer.

Heck at this point I'm not sure Fulmer would take it back.

Fulmer would walk to Knoxville for this job. Doesn't mean we should give it to him.

(And of course, after that much walking, we probably wouldn't be able to recognize him anyway.)

We're getting what we deserve as a fan base, people. We were impatient, petulant, and spoiled for firing Fulmer too soon. Now we are reapinng the fruits of our foolishness.

The sense of pretentiousness and entitlement on this board is staggering, and the downright blasting of coaching candidates and cheering for certain coaches to turn us down is grossly stupid. Now look where we are :

Gruden turned us down. Patterson, Petersen, Fisher, Mora, and others declined interviews. Gundy turned us down, and it looks like Strong, and possibly Fedora will, too.

You all who were screeching harpies because "so and so" might be hired will all look very dumb if we hire someone so unknown and so unproven it makes your despised candidate look like a god.

Unless, by some grace of God, we luck out and hire Strong (and yes, we would be LUCKY to have Strong at this point), the rest of the coaching search (more like epic journey) does not bode well.

"But we are UT, we don't settle!" --Well, guess what, apparently most of the coaches we wanted to hire don't give a damn that we are Tennessee. Fulmer does, at least. Looks like we will be settling. Some of you act like these boosters should "Just offer some guy 6 million a year!" as if you should be the one spending their money.

It is time for us to get off of our "high horse", be humbled, and support whoever is hired. I would welcome Fulmer back in a heartbeat if we miss out on Strong or Fedora.

I am 100% hoping Hart hires Fulmer today. I just don't get the "hire an unproven guy(insert name here)" from some small time conference instead of hiring a proven winner. 4 million bucks for Charlie Strong? Are you kidding me? Fulmer t 2 and a half million and allow him to bring back guys like Martin, Jones, and Chavis. Chaney, Pittman, and Graham stays and the stability is there. If we did it now, 5-6 years from now I think we would be much more attractive to prospective coaches. The way Fulmer was sent packing would be forgot and he could turn over the program to the next guy.

There's a reason Charlie Strong is in much higher demand than Fulmer.

I'm sure Saban "gave a damn" about Alabama.

And why are people assuming Fulmer could get a guy like Chavis back? It seems like when Fulmer is mentioned, too many around here just automatically assume he's going to get some awesome staff and get us back to the top.

If anyone actually believed that, why didn't they start with Fulmer in the first place?
