Fulmer on 14 class "Not enough linemen"

CPF was an Offensive Lineman, that is his center of gravity.

Chavis would have said D-linemen, Cutcliffe would have said ball handlers, saban would have said secondary, Paterno would have said linebackers, dooley would have said hygiene techs, kiffen would have said booster club closers, Franklin would have said punters.

No Paterno would have said Ball Handlers, aka Sandusky!

Our current roster is seriously lacking in quality SEC caliber speed, athleticism, and toughness. I think that this is the first order of business that Butch is trying to address. You can make a serviceable line out of 3* big uglies with heart, but you can't make great athletes out of guys lacking speed and athleticism.

Fulmer is a bitter old POS. Butch reached out to him something the last two coaches didn't do so he should just STHU.

We currently have 1 projected DT. (There are some DE tweeners that could play DT) but Lambert is the only current true DT committed.. I feel like we could use 1 or 2 more. But other than that, offensive line and defensive like class looks solid.

Staff is recruiting guys that can play inside and out in this system, IMO. One and two-gappers. Versatility and whatnot.

If Butch is trying to add even 1 more lineman to this class, which he is and probably will, then Fulmer would be correct with his statement. I'm sure Butch would agree with him. I get tired of all the Fulmer hate. Get over it!

Read a lot, post a little, but I don't get the Fulmer hate. I loved him when he was here and thought it was crap the way he exited. He is a monumental part of this program even if we fell off in his last few years. I just couldn't read all this and not weigh in with some support for Phil. Having said all that, we full Butch over here. Go Vols!

Oddly, Mizzou is showing you can get to Atlanta without 5 star lineman all over the field. Never would have believed it.

Fulmer also gifted almost all of those coaches their first signature wins.

4x National Championships

If Fulmer had done his job we would not have had to suffered through Kiffin and Dooley.

Well he didn't deserve to be fired in the place. Also our last winning season was with Fulmers players. So yeah he was terrible. I will agree that towards the end he wasn't as good as he used to be. However, I really don't see how Fulmer could have been worse than Dooley.

We would have been much better off having Fulmer until hiring Butch. I really don't see how that is confusing.

Wrong. So what years should have been our other NC's? Spurrier fielded awesome teams at UF. Fulmers overall record was awesome, regardless of how you want to down him.

We could say the same thing about Spurrier. With all of the talent he had over the years, he should have had way mor national championships. Does that mean he is not a good coach? Please.

His recruiting was actually very good. It was player development that got him. He tended to turn a 5* into a 3*. :eek:hmy:

You are referring to the Syndrome that Joe B. Hall first introduced at Kentucky. He took Derrick Hord and by the time the kid was through at UK, he could barely dribble a basketball without it going off of his foot.
