Fulmer Picking Up Steam/Schools looking at Fulmer?(merged)

Had no idea Haslam was a big-wig. I just thought he was a Mayor. He must be a huge donator, why does he have that kind of cash. What did he do before politicing?

Big Jim owns all the Pilot stations across the country. Worth a lot of cash. Contributed $30M just a few years back; biggest single contributor to Tennessee in its history.

Oh boy, more of Vegas' made up insider information.

The boosters were the ones clamoring for the early announcement of Fulmer's termination after the South Carolina loss. They'd already decided to can him.

Completely false. You're evidently clueless. Even Clay Travis has more info than you.

I'm sure your research is totally solid,...just to bad those facts are an indication of the Posters on this site. Thanks for your efforts,...nice graphics too. Make it yourself? I need some stuff like that to back-up my post.

graphjam.com -- a beautiful thing because stats never lie. I always use it when I need to graphically represent some lies I am telling.

I'm sure. Please enlighten me as to the mystery offensive coordinator that would have saved Phil had Mike Hamilton been willing to pay for him.

This is the seventy-eighth time I've asked.

This rumor was regarding the offensive coordinator for Michigan who was supposed to bring Ryan Mallett.

Unfortunately it is also false. When you ask a very prominent Fulmer backer about it and he said "that did not happen" you can put it to bed.

Fulmer lived and died by the Clawfense. It was not his first or only poor coaching hire.

Don't forget he just bought Flying J for a few billion too. I think his tax return last year showed him making somewhere around $125 million.

I would root very hard for Fulmer if he went to Minnesota, I doubt he would get them any better than consistently bowling, but I do believe he could do that.

That's some hard-hitting research there...

This is great. Was this a double blind study? I feel sorry for the research animals used in group 4 when they went to certain unnamed(<<<<<<<<<< see where I live) counties in TN.

that was a HUGE purchase for Pilot considering they were bitter rivals in the truck fueling industry. Now its Pilot vs the rest (TA, Petro, Love's) and they have a huge advantage.

Clawson's offense hasnt faired any better at Bowling Green either. They are 2-7 and are out of the bowl race.

According to Vegas, there is another supreme master of offense that Fulmer wanted and the Michigan guy was option #2.

Fulmer has not been contacted about the Gopher opening, yet. He may not be contacted I think it would be a shame. I think it would be a great hire for them to bring someone in to build a foundation with a succession plan for the future. In all honesty if Fulmer had put a succession plan in place the last 5 years he could have left on his own terms.

They were 7-6 last year and went to a bowl game, and four of those losses were by 7 points or less. Gregg Brandon was a horrible recruiter, so there wasn't a heck of a lot of talent for Clawson to work with.

As for this year, most of last year's two-deep graduated so it's an extremely young and inexperienced team. Three of those seven losses were by a touchdown or less, which is still impressive considering how thin the team is.

Thanks to Florida's probation in 1990, who had the best SEC record that year and won it on the field.

We beat them 45-3.

You should really be thanking Florida for allowing us to back into it in 2007. They beat us 59-20 and were the better team.

I am not a Fulmer hater or lover, but get frustrated with the Fulmer lovers and their delusional ideas about him and his time here. I know the man personally. He isn't the "high character" guy as portrayed by uninformed and delusional fans.

They were good last year. If Fulmer would have left Clawson alone, he might have survived. It isn't a fable that Fulmer was apprehensive about bringing in high profile assistant coaches. Clawson fit that bill. From the time Clawson arrived on campus, Fulmer tried to micromanage him. Fulmer didn't hide the fact from the players that he didn't fully support the new offense. That is terrible management and sends the wrong signals to the players. Of course the offense was miserable as a result

Glad you liked it. Figured it was time for an objective look at things.

Had Hammy not been cheap, the list could have been extensive rather than the "cheap list." As just a small sample of the OC's excluded from consideration because of Hammy's decision:

Marrone
Brown
DeBord
Malzahn
Callahan

All completely false. Fulmer didn't try to micromanage Clawson. It was Clawson's offense, from the personnel to the terminology, from the scheme to the play-calling. Fulmer only took over the offense after the Wyoming loss.

Everyone else who knows the man disagrees with you. I am tired of the Fulmer haters and their delusional views of Tennessee football, evident in Tennessee's national irrelevance post-integrated football & pre-Fulmer as OC/RC in '89 and now again post-Fulmer. If Florida had been the better team, they would have won the SEC East; they didn't, because they weren't. One game does not a season make, in 1990 or 2007.

Obviously the ones that wanted him gone had more, otherwise he'd still be here.

Not really; Hamilton made this decision mostly on his own, while making sure not many boosters would come after him for it. Some very significant boosters opposed, but only a few said much publicly about it.

The offense we ran in 2008 wasn't Clawson's. It was some bastardized offspring of a Fulmer/Clawson/post-Cut offense that wasn't productive at all.

You calling somebody delusional is the height of comedy.

This is a blatant lie. I happen to know Malzahn's family reasonably well and they'll all tell you that you're lost. He was hired away from Tulsa as one of the lowest paid OCs in the SEC. Oops.

This is why no one respects your opinions. The mere idea of someone claiming that in 2007 that UT was a better team than Florida ruins any credibility whatsoever.

You don't lose to teams 59-20 if you are better than them.
