Fulmer Picking Up Steam/Schools looking at Fulmer?(merged)

The Clawfense did pretty good last year with MAC talent! Were our guys just to dumb to run it or did our HC not fully support it?

You answered your own question. #1 the MAC is not the SEC. #2 MAC talent won't compete in the SEC. In addition to this, the clawfense isn't faring too well this year with MAC talent.

It would be so cold in Minnesota, Phil would actually have to get in bed with his wife to stay warm.

But think of all the beautiful Ice sculptures the art department students crank out during the winter solstice,,,,

Minnesota > Siberia,, but not by much

Listen, I know you have this "data" that supports your claim that we'd be competing for an SEC east crown this year. As someone who works in empirical research, I can say that your data is way to limited for you to be making such claims.

What would the data have said about Gene Chizik?

How about the data for Texas?

I know you're a big Fulmer fan, and thats cool. However, this nonsense of a bowl game in 2008, and a nine win season in 2009 is just that.

The only data I need is 2 losing seasons in three years. I sub top 30 recruiting class in 2008.
Getting blasted by your rivals year in and year out.
Allowing your football team to run wild, and pile up arrests.

Then at least try to get your data right. There was no "2 losing seasons in 3 years" when Fulmer was fired; there was not "getting blasted" by rivals "year in and year out" unless you can only count to 2; there was no "run wild" football team with "arrests" in the last 3 years on the hill.

As for 9 wins, Fulmer did precisely that or better after every down season he had. The same Fulmer critics wanted him fired in 2002. What did he do the next two seasons? Win 9+ games. Then they wanted him fired after 2005. What did he do the next two seasons? Win 9+ games. So both logic and fact support the idea Fulmer would have bounced back (maybe to 2 good years and 1 bad year, alternately, but I'd take that over 2 bad years consecutively.)

What I'm "pretty sure" about is that we're gonna suck for the foreseeable post-Fulmer future.

Pretty sure Kiffin and Dooley will tell you we suck because of the crappy job Phil did his last few years here.

Odd how Phil had nothing but good things to say about Minnesota when some goof from the Sporting News made a tweet from a random though that Phil might be a candidate. Now that it's come to light he wasn't being considered it's "not a good fit."

Fulmers waiting on the Florida job when Meyer leaves. Since he could never beat Florida, the next best thing is to run the program into the ground like he did UT

I would have liked to have seen it.

I don't want to see him at LSU for sure.

Nice job acting scared of a scenario only you are dreaming up. Fulmer has as good of a chance of coaching LSU as you do of making sense.

Yeah, it's not like 2/3 of our players on this roster have nothing to do with Fulmer and our only quality starters are mostly Fulmer players.

So when are we going to be winning that SEC title you predicted was coming as soon as we got rid of Fulmer? How's that plate of crow tasting so far?

Here's a helpful tip to make you not come across as an idiot. Try and include one true statement in every post.

I'm not sure I can think of anything more pathetic than having to resort to the criticism of fictitious claims.

The fact that only 1/3 of the players are Fulmer recruits should tell you something. I'll give you a hint, it has a lot to do with why we have depth issues.

We'll be much better in 2 years when the last of Fulmer's classes are gone and we have some players with actual talent on the field.

if fulmer was a great coach, why did his teams start getting worse every year the last few years?

Ridiculous.

It's okay to lose 7 games as long as you have two decent seasons after?

Participation awards are awesome. That's all the SEC East "crown" is.

You're slapping the history of Tennessee football in the face to make CPF look better.

What was CPF's excuse in 2002? Mark Richt? Injuries?

What about getting embarrassed by Maryland and Clemson in bowl games? Is that okay?

The continued ass kickings by Meyer and Saban? That's unacceptable at a program with the history and tradition of Tennessee.

You Fulmer worshippers kill me.

Biggest cop-out I've ever seen on this board.

Kiffin had a team with 7-NFL'ers on it, and, as we know, it was a 9-win team.

Dooley does have an excuse. It's named Lane Kiffin. Who turned away Cam Newton. Who gutted the team. Who recruited a busted class. Who left two days (hyperbole) before NSD.

You act like the Cam Newton thing was a done deal.

Kiffin ran off guys for discipline issues or because they didn't fit his system.

Busted? I'd say Janzen Jackson and Tyler Bray have done well thus far.

Let me know when we can call 9 and 10 win seasons "unacceptable" again, because we won't be seeing that very often for the next decade or more. You're the one who doesn't know your history. Before Fulmer took over the offense and recruiting in 1989, we spent most of the two decades of integrated SEC football in the football desert.

It has nothing to do with Kiffin's gut-and-run approach to our roster, right? At least you have the guts to predict we'll be winning 9-10 games a year in the 2013 seasons and beyond. (Unless you're like some of the posters here who really don't mean we'll actually be "better" than what Fulmer did two-thirds of the time in his worst six season run on the hill.)

It was about more than wins and losses. It was about driving to Gainesville and watching the Vols get slaughtered 59-20. It was about Bammers completely taking over Neyland while the tide ran us off the field. And before you say these are simply two isolated incidents, let me say your wrong, they are not. To me - and a lot of other fans who could still see the forest for the trees - these were just two of many examples of what was going on with our program. The best teams were continuing to get better, and we were falling further and further behind. Yes, we still had some decent win/loss records, but it was clear that the upper echelon was slipping away faster than most wanted to admit. What we have to look forward to for the foreseeable future is not a pretty picture, but it is what had to be done to get UT back on the track Fulmer had us on a decade ago. The guy did great things for our program, and his love for the university cannot reasonably be questioned, but his best coaching days were behind him.

It was a done deal, because Kiffin turned him away!

By that reckoning the Kiffin 2010 part of the class is 300% worse than the 2007 class. The guys contributing are mostly Fulmer and Dooley guys. A lot of the Dooley contributors were post NSD too!

I rest my case.

Gooch has done more than Tyler Bray at this point. I'm not dissing the kid - he's got real potential. But I would not be surprised if Simms plays before halftime this weekend.

JJ has been a solid contributor.
