Fulmer Returns!!!

Lol. Granpa?

I better not be. My daughter is only 20.

Yes. You need merits on a message board. You wish to degrade Fulmer while never being in his shoes. None of us have. I just respect the man for what he did. He made us a powerhouse. We were respected and feared. Even in our down years our rivals came to play. Fulmer lost his edge. But it was crappy the way it went down. He will be a legend at UT regardless of what you or any other poster that dislikes him think

I can only hope my son and I have the chance to meet him one day.

That is what has bothered me most. It was always cool to have the "hometown" boy leading us to victory. For some of us, it made the SEC titles and NC more meaningful. No doubt, Fulmer was able to use that "family tradition" angle to wrangle many prospects to play here. Parents want to know that their kids will be treated like family when they go off to play CFB.

CBJ may or may not be a great X and O coach (time will tell), but he seems smart enough to know how to convince kids and their parents to be a part of our future. Having the support of Fulmer can't hurt.

It might not mean anything in the Win column, but if you love Tennessee and Vols football, this means a lot. A WHOLE lot.

Go Vols!

all CPF should have done, was hire a good OC and he might have still been here, after breaking Neylands records and maybe another trip or two to the promised land, but that is hindsight,it is good to have CPF talking to the football team for sure and who knows,it might have helped, especially for the future

Not that I need validation from you, but I was never and am not a FULMER HATER!!!...during his 8 year swoon I waxed poetic on tos defending him and championing his right to steady the ship...that proved to be wrong on my part..it was time for him to go...and I love the man for the classy contributions to his alma mater...not to mention the National Championship...my swipe at the poster that you interjected yourself into, was hinged on the 5-7 record that Fulmer was immune to...except for two of the last four years in his tenure...resume condescension and butthurt

Old enough to have known both personally.

Means zilch. Some context was what I was looking for.

Specifically where does your knowledge of what did or didn't happen in the fall of '92 come from?

I have tons of respect/admiration for both Majors and Fulmer. Grew up watching Johnny's teams and it felt like he was like a member of the family. Huge amount of respect for the level CPF and company elevated Tennessee to in the next 10 yrs.

However I can admit that it is very likely there were behind the scenes conversations/ dealings during fall of '92 about who would lead the team in the future.

Certainly Johnny didn't help himself by the way he handled himself and the situation either.

I understand both sides, but I haven't chosen one because to me they are both Tennessee football.

This makes me very happy. This is great for the young players on the team. History lesson.

Give me a direct link to the back stabbing or STFU about it. It never happened.

I agree that they were both Tennessee coaches and should be recognized for the good they did. The problem for me is the accusations of back stabbing and there is nothing to prove that it happened. It's just sour grapes on Majors part, IMO. Everyone has their opinions of what happened or didn't. It's all opinions and shouldn't be expressed as truths. I think Majors sealed his own doom with his actions prior to and at the time.

If we could only get coach Butch to get rid of that annoying ass yankee accent. :p

Would like to see CPF as our next AD, ADPF with CBJ. Heck, put an emeritus title for Majors and have them all together.

I truly believe that Coach Phil is done coaching. Even at the High School level. However, I would love to see Butchy hire Phil to as the O-line coach. :loco::loco::loco::loco::loco::loco::loco::loco::loco:

Yes, I know it is cookoo. However, Phil did say he would do everything to help.

Wishful thinking maybe?

I'll hang up and listen.

Step one with Majors.
Step two with Fulmer.
Step three is between Majors and Fulmer.

Butch - you have done all you can do. Thanks. Now it's on them to man up for the good of the University of Tennessee and its fan base.

Step four is bring back Dooley and Sal.
