Fulmer to ETSU?

If ETSU had allowed the Titans to have their practice facilities in JC, they could have had a situation similar to USF. Paul Stanton was anti-athletics to a degree that would make Jimmy Cheek blush.

Stanton was president while I was at ETSU and your statement couldn't be any more correct. I loved my time in Johnson City but didn't care for ETSU. Even the basketball team suffered during the Stanton regime and ETSU used to be a good basketball school.

He worth his weight in gold?

:)Ha! But seriously, he has lost a great deal of weight in recent years...a friend of mine met him in Chattanooga and had his picture taken with him at some event. I could barely tell it was him! What he will never lose is his legacy as a champion coach in the CFB hall of fame.

He is a good guy and has lost weight. He achieved some great things early on.

I can't believe what i'm reading here. Why the hell would anybody in their right mind want Fulmer to help ETSU get a football program started. As I recall Fulmers lazy self was the one that pretty much started UT's downfall after winning a NC. After that what did he do????. Absotuley nothing.

Got named to the Hall of Fame. What's you done since then?

The massive 200 pound weight loss that Fulmer suffered at the end of the 1998 season started a gradual downfall. He gained the 200 pounds back in 2006, but then lost it again at the end of the 2007 season, and he was finished.

Dont forget original....all it was missing was a Krispy Kreme reference. I've said it time and again on vn.....those who resort to calling fulmer petty names dont realize they are worse than Gator and Bammer fans and dont deserve to be UT fans. The guy was not perfect and things can always be done better, but his record, NC, back to back SEC titles (last team to do that...not even mighty Bama has accomplished this on their run), SEC east titles, the fact that he played at UT and gave his entire coaching career to UT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF and no amount of petty name calling from some immature poster who was sucking his mamma's teet during the 90s/early 2000s will ever change that. GBO.

:clapping:

FYP.

Fulmer: "I am going to pick up a dozen hot ones at Krispy Kreme."

I am sorry. You guys makes this too easy.

FTR .. I 100% support CPF going to ETSU. I sincerely think he is the best thing that could happen to get that program up and running. A NC and HOF coach. Phil can give back to the state , help build a good program and add to his legacy.

I think this would be a win- win situation.

You ought to qualify your claims a bit. SEC East titles are not SEC championships, very different. Back to back SEC championships were in another century, a bit dated. Mighty Bama not having accomplished that? How relevant is that when Bama has accomplished far more than two B2B SEC titles. How about their multiple N.C.'s? Far more significant that two SEC titles back to back. How many schools would trade their conference titles for N.C.'s? If you want to embellish what you think PF's record is, use a little logic and common sense reasoning.

That brings up the argument that if you don't win (or in Bama's case, don't even play for) your conference title, you don't deserve to play for the national title.

I do not get why Tennessee "fans" ridicule him about his weight and downplay and cheapen all his accomplishments. But hey, that's just me.

Maybe they're Tennessee fans who don't think he was a great coach.

That doesn't even come close to answering my question of why on Earth a Tennessee "fan" would root for ETSU + Fulmer over Tennessee.

It comes real close. Why on earth would a Tennessee "fan" ridicule their greatest coach?

Hang on SJ. This is the same type of spinning your side does.

Doing good vf.
I am getting excited and hoping CPF goes to ETSU. If he does I will join their booster club. I think it would be a great move.

No, it doesn't. If I say Derek Dooley isn't a very good coach and could have done a lot better, that doesn't make me any less of a fan. Being a Tennessee fan and criticizing a Tennessee coach is one thing. Being a Tennessee fan and actively rooting for East Tennessee State to beat Tennessee makes absolutely no sense.

And by the way, this "greatest coach" horsesh*t has got to stop. No one agrees with you.

VF knows that PF isn't the greatest coach in UT history, he is well aware that Neyland is.

You're suggesting that every Tennessee fan should bend over for Phillip Fulmer. That's extremely debatable. I'm saying that Tennessee fans should cheer for Tennessee instead of against them. That doesn't seem very debatable at all.

Personal insults are my issue. That is just wrong.

And by the way, do you represent everyone?

Krispy Kreme, lazy, doughboy etc. That is my definition. You surely agree with me on that?

Now vf Krispy Kreme is the very best donuts in the world. To mention that Phil loves them is not ridiculing him.
95% of the people on VN loves Krispy Kremes , the other 5% are lying or have no sense of taste.
