Fulmer to UK?

You're misrembering. The fans were calling for Phil's head as OC.

...especially after the 1990 Notre Game where Coach Phil called pass plays 3 straight times to Carl Pickens with the last being picked off in the end zone. Even Carl Pickens criticized CPF for predictable play calling.

CPF has been and will always be predictable. That problem had fans upset before Bill Clinton's first term.

Could careless about Kentucky football's next HC....I am more worried about who the next HC here in Knoxville is going to be.

Fulmer to UK could work imo, much of it depends on his staff, which I think could be good. I would think Kevin Steele would go if he doesnt go to UT, also Steve Caldwell and some other good coaches Fulmer has ties to, like Doug Marrone if he is fired from Cuse. They could do worse, but I ont think he should be top target.

Fulmer's done coaching.

Going to UK would ruin his legacy, which isn't that great to begin with.

One of the highest winning % ever? He wasn't that great his last few years but I think we all can agree he earned his dues and I'm sure if we still had fulmer we wouldn't be taking timeouts on extra points or field goals because of 12 men on the field.

Come on man this is volnation u know there is at least 1 idiot on the board at all times:)

I don't see how anyone could sign on as head coach for the wildcats without knowing that the natural position for KY is at the bottom of the SEC East. For as long as I can remember, it seems that the doormat at the end of the season was almost always either KY or Vandy. How could any coach really feel that he had any hope of changing that paradigm, especially now when he has to recruit against the real contenders in the division? As bad as Tennessee is now, and we're pretty bad, even UT consistently out-recruits KY. And we're having a struggle to even get a grip on fifth-place in the division. Even Missouri’s recruiting base is probably bigger than KY’s when it comes to football. I don’t see how any coach could see KY as a destination job. It’s exceedingly difficult to even pad your coaching resume at a school that’s meant to be a perennial also-ran. Unless they throw big bucks at him, they’re not going to land any coach worth his salt.

Fulmer had a great run in the 1990's. When better coaches game in the league and Cut left, he was screwed.

I think your standards are set a tad too high......during his last nine yrs at Tennessee Phil won three sec east championships...the same as Georgia and Florida...while true we lost the three times we made it.....it is extremely more difficult to win a sec championship at Tennessee than you realize.

Mark Richt has only won one sec championship at Georgia....Steve spurrier has not won a single one since leaving Florida....four states have won sec championships since during those nine yrs....Alabama...Georgia....Louisiana...and florida which not coincidentally is the four most talent rich states in the SEC...I'm not a Phil fan but he was still doing a pretty good job even during our "lean" years.

How would define his last ten years and lack of SEC championships in seventeen years?

How does coach Fulmer look right now compared to where we are? His record speaks for itself. Averaged over 9 wins per season plus SEC championships, and a National title. Hell Dooley can't afford a ticket to the National Championship game must less play for one! Give me a break! Some of you really are clueless!

I do know one thing. I couldn't handle seeing Fulmer in Kentucky blue. I'd throw up. And then I'd throw up again. And then I'd punch myself in the face. I don't think he'd do particularly well there, but living here has caused me to hate UK far more than schools like Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.

I've always thought that would be a great job for him if they gave him enough support. The problem - UK will never give enough support to its football program

You are quite correct. The die was cast long ago on that point, when Bear Bryant departed the Bluegrass State after playing second fiddle to Adolph Rupp. Reportedly, he received a gold watch for his services while Rupp received a brand new Cadillac.

I hope he goes there. I'd root for UK unless they played us.

But why would they go after Cutcliffe? He said no to us

Without Cutcliffe: 66-33 (66%) 0 SEC titles

With Cutcliffe (not including 1992): 82-19 (81%) 2 SEC Titles.

Sorry. Those are facts.

Who cares.Kentucky could do much worse than Hiring Fulmer. If i was a Kentucky fan i would be stoked.

anyone here wanting Fulmer in Kentucky is foolish, you think Fullmer doesn't have a lot of pull in Tennessee high school coaching ranks? You watch phill pull some of the best from Tennessee to Kentucky!

Kentucky will go after Petrino hard. I mean hell, their standards are already low enough with Calipari there.
