Fulmer was on the verge of

3 things

1. It's July and I'd like to know something better to discuss
2. Why would this not work? It happened at Kansas State and they turned out ok
3. Don't tell me it would "never" happen. Kiffin pulled off a staff similar to this at the time. And Fulmer is one of the most respected coached by his peers nationally.

Oh, you were serious. I thought surely you had to be kidding, drunk, or otherwise incapacitated.

Would Fulmer want the job back? Yes. There were some reports that he was politicking for the job during the search.

Why wouldn't it work? Let's just put it this way. Fulmer is no Bill Snyder... and UT doesn't play in the Big 12. Fulmer may have never been as good of a coach as he was given credit for. He got a massive gift vs Arkansas in 98 and otherwise thrived in the SEC while several of the current powerhouses were down and none of the also rans were nearly as good as they are now.

He WAS a good politician and recruiter in his time. That is no longer enough.

It is folks like you that continue to promote this myth that Fulmer was a victim of something other than his own failure, pride, and lack of ability.

He allowed the program to decline from 98 to 05. The rest of the SEC got better and his records started to suffer. The game both in recruiting and on the field passed him by while he stubbornly refused to change with it. He continued to hold on even as less and less quality recruits were willing to listen to him. He left an absolute train wreck that Kiffin and Dooley tried to deal with... and that Jones will still have to repair.

It is only the blindest of the Jonestown kool-aid drinkers that would take this notion serious much less want it to happen.

To summarize an objective evaluation of your post:

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard At no point in your rambling incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul

I thought he was going to say "on the verge of.... giving birth" considering his ballooning size when he left.

Not gonna read the 7 pages, but please tell me someone gave the OP crap for their ridiculous spelling of Jon ShaveUs.

Creating the best staff in America... When Fooley was fired and Hart was on a coaching search, it was rumored that Fulmer was pushing to get the job back. He had Chevous back as DC and was bringing in a new OC of BOBBY PETRINO! It was apparently all being organized and negotiated at Fulmers HOF banquet. Hart's hands were tied bc of how Fulmer and the big money in Knoxville don't get along. My source is a local vol in West Tn that actually played with Fulmer at UT. Chief did not want anything to do with the HC job and PETRINO would be able to ease his way bak into football without having to take a lesser HC job at a small school (which is why he is where he is now). PETRINO would basically be HC in waiting. ... This would have been amazing. BUT, with that said, I am very please with Butch and company. Go Vols
1. Someone clicked the like button for the OP. It is disappointing that people can be this gullible.

2. No, you are making this up.

3. #soon, #gruden, #smokescreen
Did I miss any?

Whats up with all the "likes" for the professional troll ? :loco:

I think you mean Jon Gruden, not Fulmer. He was on the verge of being our next head coach.

Do us all a favor, please. Delete your account. Fill up your bathtub and throw your computer in it. This would NEVER have happened. Never in a billion years. You're source is talking out of his ass.

Fulmer was on the verge of...

Doing the same crap he had done for the last decade. Self life of excuses are expired after a decade of no meaningful trophies.
