Mike Hamilton never did anything without "Big Money" approval.

until the Big Money split themselves up over what to do with Fulmer. Hammy pushed some of the Big Monies away from the program after firing Fulmer and some of the Big Monies pulled away on their own after the firing. Fulmer had huge love with a lot of the Big Money. It's what kept him around so long.

Yep. The Money was divided but Hamilton had backing.

On a side note they got em the job in the first place.

Sounds like phil was trying to get the band together again? Hard to believe that Chief would have been so inclined. The talent in BR is beyond compare. And Petrino is a one trick pony. Too many cooks in the kitchen for that meal to happen.

Creating the best staff in America... When Fooley was fired and Hart was on a coaching search, it was rumored that Fulmer was pushing to get the job back. He had Chevous back as DC and was bringing in a new OC of BOBBY PETRINO! It was apparently all being organized and negotiated at Fulmers HOF banquet. Hart's hands were tied bc of how Fulmer and the big money in Knoxville don't get along. My source is a local vol in West Tn that actually played with Fulmer at UT. Chief did not want anything to do with the HC job and PETRINO would be able to ease his way bak into football without having to take a lesser HC job at a small school (which is why he is where he is now). PETRINO would basically be HC in waiting. ... This would have been amazing. BUT, with that said, I am very please with Butch and company. Go Vols

Chevous? Chevous? I also heard they were going to bring back Paytin Maneng for QB coach and when Petreeno bolted for another HC job he would bring back Kutcliff and Jummmalll Louis as RB coach and beg Arik Barrie to retire and be CB coach.

Paula Dean?

I loved Fulmer & he got a raw deal from dumba$$ Hamilton. I doubt this tale is true, but, regardless, let's let this go & move on with Jones.

GO VOLS!!!

Fulmer was on the verge of...

Doing the same crap he had done for the last decade. Self life of excuses are expired after a decade of no meaningful trophies.

Leading Tennessee to prominence, winning the NC, HOF. You may now continue with your drivel.

fwiw, I've heard from multiple sources that say Chavis hates it down there, but it's too good of a gig to give up for what he's been offered. This comes from those close to Tennessee and close to LSU both.

Not that it could possibly do anything to wreck this thread, but lets keep politics of the main board. :hi:

Leave it to a Bama fan to seriously assess this thread.

Majors won three SEC titles to 2 for Fulmer. He won back to back ones 3 years before Phil was hired as head coach. If Reggie Cobb doesn't discover coke, UT would have won the 89 NT. Please don't act like some of these morons who think UT was nothing before Fulmer.
