Fulmer's Worst 4 years still better than last 4 years

You're insane if you think our last 4 years would of been worse with Fulmer, and you have no facts to even remotely back up that claim.

In fairness, you have no facts that prove the last 4 years would've been better with Fulmer.

That said, I think Fulmer would've reached 6 or 7 wins and wouldn't have lost to Kentucky, but he had to go.

Screwing up his replacement doesn't make his dismissal any less appropriate.

2 SEC titles
1 NC
7 East titles (I think)
HOF Inductee

Even the last four years of his time at Tennessee, had 2 good years.

And?

How is any of that proof he wouldn't have continued the decline, as he had for years? He went a decade without a title...he clearly was not going to win another.

I have nothing but respect for what Phil accomplished here.

I do not make do nut jokes . In my 52 years however I have found that the Past does not always predict the Future . If it did no one would ever make a mistake .Again Not trying to be an azz .

Edit If your employer ever asks you where you see yourself in 5 years and trys to tie the past and future together .That's boss speak for heck no you are not getting a raise and get out of my office . I know this 'cause I am the boss :dance2:

I loved ol Phil as did Spurrier.......I miss him.....Do you think you can get him back?

Not on a bet .TY He can come watch practice with the other old coach , they can be VFL , while trying to stab each other . Enjoy this cock fan The worm does turn .

You think Tajh Boyd would have been the cure at Tennessee?

I like Boyd, but he's not even the best player on his offense at Clemson. He's a good QB, but wouldn't be nearly as effective out of Chad Morris' offense.

Boyd has never beaten South Carolina and he never will. Clemsux

I am concerned about posters who feel they need to remind us daily that Phil was a long time coach with an overall winning record . Do they think we forgot ?

No, they do not forget. They simply try to diminish his accomplishments at every turn.

I read fine, thank you. You said his firing was appropriate, therefore you are saying he would not have improved. If I am misunderstanding, my apologies.

The team he got in 1992 was far and away, better than the team he left in 2008.

^ dumb ass

a. he built the team being he was a coach and promoted. Anyone with half a brain knows that

b. he did "leave" anything. He was asked to leave. If you don't like what he left then don't ask him to leave.

It's unsettling to know that there are people who think like this, just out there mingling freely amongst us.

I like Butch, I think he will do well and I think he can turn us around. That being said, I was never one of those people calling for fulmers head. Anytime someone coaches a team for as long as he did they will have an off year here and there.

When Kiffin took over he lied like crazy about the shape that the program was in. There was a lot of talent on the team. Running Phil out started the landslide and got us here. I love Tennessee and I will bleed orange for life but right now we are reaping what we sowed.

Suddenly, a 10-4 season with an outback bowl win doesn't sound so bad does it?

Sewanee???

I am retired from GE and former a former letterman of UT. Plus, I likely give more money to the University in one year than you have in your lifetime

He didn't build that team. He did recruit some of the players but I stand by my statement. It's fact. The team he inherited he got in 1992 was miles better than the one he left. No matter how ignorantly you try to spin that in his favor, you lose this one. And lose very badly.

he was "asked to leave" because he stopped winning---that's they way it works when you getting paid millions

It's pretty f'ing simple. Fulmer left the program much worse than he got it. He's a great guy and loves the university with all his heart, but you simply can't ignore the facts about his coaching tenure.

We haven't sniffed a top ten finish since 2001. Some of these guys truly believe Fulmer should still be our coach
