'20 GA ATH Arik Gilbert (LSU commit)

Its a tough one, he doesn't want to go to school. LSU laid it out what he had to do last Fall, instead of hitting the books.... he played the transfer game. Than when reality hit down in Florida, he was looking for an easy out but there really isn't one. As I think I mentioned, 50/50 whether he ever plays another down of major college ball again. He's actually not a bad kid (from what I hear) but he doesn't want to go to LSU or any other school.... not really.
thank goodness for the low down.

Poor thing. Going to take a 4yr redshirt, not learn a damn a thing in school, get drafted, then be broke a few years later. Edumacation is important kids.

Pretty smart move if you ask me.

Oh yeah, I don't think many feel sorry for him. :) He has great opportunities, but I also respect a person's life enough to allow them to blow their own opportunities. He could end up back at LSU, he could end up at X number of schools or Juco, or never enroll again. I just don't think a kid is necessarily bad for not wanting to go to school or smoke a little.

He could end up back at LSU but your guys are back on campus and it’s my understanding Gilbert is not there. Correct?

Change of scenery might be exactly what AG needs instead of going back to an environment where his troubles began. Not laying that at the feet of LSU as everyone is responsible for their own decisions, but maybe getting away from the crowd he hung out with is a good start.

AG can still reach every goal at UT that he could at LSU. He can still be a productive young man, still can be an All-American, can still be selected 1st round, and can still get a prestigious degree. I do believe in second chances, rooting for you Arik.

It doesn't make them bad...it makes them pure stupid.

Its really much more simple than that... he has to go to school but he doesn't want to go to school. The Florida experiment didn't work either, why? ---> He has to go to school. <--- The environment has nothing to do with it... he doesn't want to go to any school and it doesn't matter what school it is.

The chances of a turn around is very slim in this case because the first step is wanting to go back to school. <------ Once that step is completed than its about another year or more down the road doing step 2 i.e. going to school and doing the work. There really is no short term fix here, he can go to Juco but that isn't going to last long if he doesn't go to school.

He can still be a productive young man

Sure he can, but what happens if he doesn't want to go to school? LOL It really is that simple.

What makes you so sure he will never change? I understand saying this is how he has been, but how are you deciding...never?

I don't know how simple or complicated his situation is, but I'd rather he work it out somewhere besides Athens. We're good at TE and should be fine at WR too. Doesn't feel like a good fit for Georgia to me.

Well first of all you highlighted two of my post expressing concern that HB may not start and ask me if I was taking meds for paranoia and I said nope I am good so you must think he is starting or your own the BM train which one?
No, I highlighted the first two posts of yours that said Heupel is going to screw up.

Yea I did because if you read the post I was quoting someone that said Bailey wasn't going anywhere so it's not written in stone thing just my thought. Mainly because I have only heard one guy say that Bailey might have a chance and that is John Crompton. I have even heard other people say they have been inside the program and a lot of people are saying it's BM to lose.

I’d rather him go UGA, steal the starting spot away from whoever, then be ineligible this fall due to not going to classes. Hopefully by that time your other TE’s get pissed off and leave or it ruins yalls locker room. That would be sickkkkkkkkk

By all means give us proof of what you have seen.
First of all let me say this Bailey is my pick he has always been my pick and I hope with everything that he start. Now I was watching a podcast with Kyler Kerberson the other night and him and his sidekick were talking and they got a chance to be around the team to a point and he said from being inside and talking to people that it looks like that it's BM job to lose. I know you take those with a grain of salt.

I don’t buy that at all. You don’t go out and get Milton if you have a qb that it’s their job to lose. This competition is actually open for the first time in years. I also have a hard time believing Heupel screws up a position he’s well known for producing outstanding results so even if it’s not Bailey I doubt I would call it a screw up.

Would uga blatantly tell him he doesn’t h e to go to school amd they’ll be able to keep him eligible? That’s the million dollar question. There’s obviously a whole lot of sleaziness going on between the hedges. Uga is the only team that’s recruited with Ohio state, Bama, etc that has had multiple opportunities at the trophy. Uga hasn’t matched the in the field production as those other teams yet have recruited just as well as any of them. How is that possible?
The other question would be if a guy like AG could possibly sit out for the next 2 years and then still end up a 1st round selection. He’d likely have to go play with some other pro organization to make that happen. Guys can miss their junior year when they’ve proven themselves to be elite. I can’t recall anyone sitting out starting at their sophomore season.

You take Gilbert all day if you can get him. He’s a proven commodity.

But he’ll be back at LSU or juco.

He's definitely worth the risk and we more than have a shot. Zero chance he ends up back at LSU..no way the majority of his family sign off on LSU again. TN would be the perfect Place for him.
