'17 GA ATH DeAngelo Gibbs

Sorry if its already been answered but I didn't see it: is Reed any good? I know we were trying to get him here, but that doesn't tell me if he is good. Reason I ask is: is Gibbs going to be more impressed watching Warrior get playing time, on special teams if nothing else, or Reed riding the bench?

also just making a point for people saying Smart not having any HC experience is a big deal, neither did Richt.

If he's going off impressions of playing performance, we win in a landslide! Reed has to sit this year! :yahoo:

Bump. GFW said he heard something good in the Football Talk thread. Maybe he'll drop the mic in here for us.

Gibbs??? LB?

I thought it was Stevens that was worried about being moved from safety to LB?

Yeah, Gibbs.. Said that they tried to play him at CB last year and it just didn't work out.. That's why He's dropping in the rankings, he doesn't really have a position right now.

Or he could play safety like this guy:

6'3" 232 lbs

If Gibbs really is 200lbs, lb would make sense.

Gibbs is athletic enough to play CB.

Patrick Peterson is an All-Pro CB at 6'0" 215 lbs.

its not always about stature for each position.

I could see Gibbs at 6'2" 210 lbs being a very good CB.

I like having big defense backs in the fold.

Hubbs said they tried him at CB last year and he didn't do well.

With a talent like Gibbs, if he "didnt work out" at corner its probably because he wasn't in favor of the move.

I don't know. A lot of the value of Gibbs is due to measurables and potential. He really needs a great senior year, needs to dominate games. He hasn't shown that yet like a true 5 star corner should.

And lest it be said that I am only saying that because it looks like he is going to be a Vol, I absolutely think our staff wants him and that he is a take at any time. Still, there are some questions and I think a lot of staffs, including UT and UGA both, will be watching him closely this year.

I've watched him play several times.I am by no means a talent evaluater. But played a few years beyond high school.I think Gibbs is a little tight in the hips to be a corner. He's very athletic but a little stiff.I think he would be a dynamic olb if he proves to be phsyical enough.I've not seen him really come up on a consistent basis and ko a runner or receiver. But who knows these kids all mature mentally and physically at different times.Maybe the light comes on and he plays great his senior year. That being said I have seen Jacoby come up and absolutely lay people out.
