'17 GA ATH DeAngelo Gibbs

You guys could make me chuckle at a funeral..:) Come to think of it, that's pretty much how I feel about our recruiting right now. Oh well..it's not life or death, so might as well laugh about it.

Specially when the "corpse" jumps out of the coffin and does the PUNK'd YA dance. :dance2:

Honestly I couldn't figure out what you were going for with a ? following TIFWIW, just seemed like an odd way to finish that particular sentence.

My bad. working and responding on a thread and giving neither 100% full attention no good results...lol

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. – Loganville (Ga.) Grayson five-star cornerback Deangelo Gibbs says several SEC schools are still in play during check in for The Opening Finals on Thursday.

“It’s going to be hard to say no to a lot of people,” Gibbs said. “Right now I like Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, those schools.”

The 247Sports Crystal Ball favors Georgia for the 6-foot-2, 204-pound Gibbs who we rank as the nation’s No. 2 cornerback and No. 19 player overall. The 247Sports Composite also ranks Gibbs as the No. 1 player in the Peach State and country’s No. 4 cornerback.

Gibbs has made the rounds and looks forward to taking officials before announcing in early January at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

“I’ve been to a couple schools,” Gibbs said of recent trips. “Tennessee, Georgia, Florida. I want to go back down to Florida and get a chance to see Florida State.”

Gibbs on Georgia
“Coach (Mel) Tucker is recruiting me the hardest,” he said. “I think I have a good opportunity as well to go there and play.”

Georgia is cleaning up in-state, including in-state defensive backs William Poole III and Richard LeCounte III.

“The potential is pretty exciting,” Gibbs said of playing with Poole and LeCounte. “Who wouldn’t want to play with a group of guys like that but at the same time I have to what’s best for me whether that’s playing for them or doing my own thing.”

Gibbs talked about the new Georgia staff led by Kirby Smart.

“They push their guys. I already see the development in the guys from last year to this year, their physicality and the way they work. They’re going to get their players to the next level.”

Gibbs on Tennessee
“It’s a great program,” he said. “Great organization. I can see myself playing there.”

Gibbs talked about how well Tennessee will do this fall.

“I expect them to be the best,” Gibbs stated. “Last year they only lost by a margin of 17 points total. I believe they’ll get their fourth quarter situation handled and be able to pull out a lot of games that they should have won last year.”

It seems like the entire Vols staff is recruiting Gibbs who is a fan of the Bob Shoop hiring.

“I talk to Coach (Butch) Jones, (Tommy) Thigpen, (Willie) Martinez, they all hit me up. I thought that (Shoop) was a great hire for Tennessee, he’s a great coach and develops his player really well.”

Gibbs on Florida
“They say I have a great opportunity to come in and play right away,” he said. “They had a great run last year and I believe they’ll be a great contender for the SEC championship.”

Gibbs talked about what stood out on his visit to Gainesville.

“The atmosphere in general, I like the atmosphere being there, the players are relatable, they were saying they like it there, things like that.”

Gibbs on Alabama and Auburn
“Both great schools, both great programs,” he said.

Regarding Alabama.

“Great staff. Hard working coaches, hard working players, hard working team. They all come together as one unit. I think I’d have a great opportunity to play there as well.”

“Same at Auburn, great coaches, great staff, great players, great opportunity to play there. The dorms, weight room, facilities everything is nice.”

Gibbs on wanting to see Florida State.
“I haven’t been, that’s kind of why I want to go down there, they say it’s nice,” he said adding several things stand out.

“The history and tradition. DBs coming out so it looks pretty cool.”

No wonder UGA is trending with kids. Kirby Smart is telling the recruits if they win a championship they will never have to work a day on their life. Lmao is this guy serious? Jake Fromm their QB commit said that is Smarts pitch to him and others.

They thinks UGA fans just going to feed them money their whole life? Lol boosters ain't paying you jack squat once your no longer playing. Maybe you get a better job or you go pro but there is no such thing as not working ever unless you win lottery or parents so rich they give you everything

VFL? If you don't think there are perks for playing at Tn after your career, I don't know what to say. Business is all about connections, I know players who go to certain restaurants from the 98 team that haven't paid for a meal, ever. Perks go way beyond playing days for any player at a major south school.

Perks yes but to tell a kid he will never have to work is a flat out lie. More to life than a free meal. Bills and mortgage got to be paid. Families to provide for

So if we land Ty Chandler, he wouldn't be able to recruit? Odd...

You have a valid point.

But remember... Vic Wharton was HUUUGE for our recruiting efforts in 2014. Good prospect that was a legacy and All Vol...wasnt heavily recruited.
But we offered and he commited and got working the other recruits. We dont have that right now.
Haydem might have beem that if given the chance..

I believe Wharton's recruiting impact has been overstated on this board.

COULD have been...but how do we know? And do we take kids for just that purpose? Really believe he's lower on the board for our staff.

Recruits didn't start coming here because of Wharton...lmao!! They started coming here after Hurd and Kelly Jr committed.

Jake was simplifying a much more complex idea into one sentence. The point that is being made is, you quarterback a UGA team to a NC, you can make your living off being the quarterback that led UGA to a NC...local/regional endorsements, speaking engagements, radio, slapping your name on a dealership, etc. Its technically work, but not really, not like you and I work.

It would be the same at UT. I know he's very smart and will have a great job after graduating or the NFL if he tries that, but if Dobbs lead you guys to thend promise land? After the Dooley years??? Just being Josh Dobbs would be enough to make EASY money.

Orange Venom- I know you had stated a little while back about confidence here with Gibbs, a lot of confidence. Do you still feel that way with the current article and his comments about GA? Thanks for your info.
